Renée Rapp Comes Out as Lesbian on ‘SNL’

During her lively SNL appearance last weekend, Renée Rapp playfully hinted at being lesbian in a humorous skit alongside host Jacob Elordi and comedian Bowen Yang.

Rapp Comes Out on National TV

Rapp initially came out as bisexual during her role in The Sex Lives of College Girls. This public declaration was a significant moment for her, as she had previously grappled with self-doubt and self-homophobia when cast as a gay character. This journey of self-discovery and acceptance has been a significant part of her narrative.

However, a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live sparked new speculation about Rapp’s sexual orientation. She was introduced as “our little lesbian intern Renée” during a sketch on the show, which led fans to believe that she now identifies as a lesbian. This assumption was further supported by Rapp’s social media activity, where she liked a fan’s TikTok about lesbian representation.

WATCH: Jacob Elordi Slurp the Viral Bathwater Candle

When it comes to trends that have taken the internet by storm, one of the most recent and unexpected is the viral trend of “Jacob Elordi’s Bathwater” candles. The trend originates from a scene in the movie Saltburn, where Elordi’s character is seen in a bathtub, leading to a shocking moment where another character, Oliver (Barry Keoghan), drinks the bathwater. This particular scene quickly gained immense popularity on TikTok, garnering over 89 million views.

What’s even more surprising is the revelation about the contents of the said bathwater. The production designer disclosed that the bathwater was actually a concoction made up of yogurt, milk, and water. This detail added an extra layer of intrigue to the scene and contributed to the hype surrounding it.

As for Jacob Elordi, he’s been riding the wave of this viral trend with a sense of humor. He’s even slated to appear on Saturday Night Live, where the topic of the bathwater candles is bound to come up.

Origin of the Bathwater Candles

The bathtub scene in Saltburn didn’t just gain popularity; it sparked a whole new trend – bathwater candles. Inspired by the scene, creative fans began crafting candles that supposedly smell like the infamous bathwater.

Reaction from the Film’s Cast

Elordi said he first heard about the candles when his Priscilla costar, Cailee Spaeny, sent him a video. He cheekily joked about wanting a share of the profits from the candle sales, and we do not blame him. They’re a hot commodity right now.

Barry Keoghan, another cast member of Saltburn, also had something to say about the bathwater candles. He humorously remarked that the candles really do smell like Jacob, adding to the fun of the whole situation.

The Tonight Show Incident

@stevenfingar

Who wants a Jacob Elordi bathtub cocktail? 🛀🏼 If you’ve seen the movie Saltburn, then you know (apologies in advance) — But if not, then it’s probably best to be blissfully unaware. Ingredients: – 2 oz light rum – 2 oz pineapple juice – 1.5 oz cream of coconut – splash of lime juice Combine all ingredients with ice into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Rim your glass with cream of coconut and pour. Please slurp responsibly! 🛁 #saltburn #saltburnmovie #jacobelordi #bathtubscene #barrykeoghan #cocktail #cocktailrecipe

Everything We Know About Sara Ramirez’s Exit from ‘And Just Like That…’

A Bumpy Ride on the And Just Like That… Express

Sara Ramirez’s Unexpected Departure

Hold on to your hats, folks, for a rollercoaster tale from the world of TV drama! Sara Ramirez, the talented and trailblazing actor, known for their vibrant portrayal of Che Diaz in And Just Like That…, the sizzling spinoff of Sex and the City, has reportedly been shown the door. But why, you ask? Ah, that’s where the plot thickens!

The Che Diaz Conundrum

For two seasons, Ramirez, a proud bisexual and nonbinary icon, brought Che Diaz to life. Despite a bumpy reception in season one, both the show’s creators and Ramirez gave a thumbs-up for a season two return.

Instagram Reveals and Hollywood Whispers

Ramirez Speaks Out

This week, Ramirez turned heads with intriguing Instagram Stories, hinting that their stance on Palestine might be the reason behind their sudden exit from the show.

“Our industry is so duplicitous. While they give awards away, casting directors and agents are making black lists of actors and workers who post anything in support of Palestinians and Gaza to ensure they will not work again. While they lift up some of their own clients who have spoken up against this genocide, they are firing and letting others who have smaller platforms go. While they award ‘Igbtq orgs,’ they are silent on those orgs ties to weapons manufacturers who are currently supporting the Israel military as it commits genocide on Palestinian lives that include LGBTQIA2S+ lives.”

They continued: “I get it. Awards are shiny and people need to pay their rent or feel special and powerful. Meanwhile, we are beyond the 100-day mark on this ‘war’ that has been acknowledged by many, including the ICC, as a genocide. It’s wild how performative so many in Hollywood are. Even more performative than the last character I played.”

But wait, there’s more!

Contradicting Claims

Enter the Daily Mail with a spicy twist: insiders whispered that Ramirez’s character, Che, had lost its charm, and their departure had nothing to do with politics. These insiders painted Che as a character who had overstayed their welcome on the show. So, what’s the real story?

Behind-the-Scenes Drama

Michael Patrick King’s Stand

Cut to July 2023. Michael Patrick King, the showrunner, jumps into the fray, defending Che in an interview with The Wrap. King couldn’t fathom the negativity around Che and praised Ramirez’s acting chops.

Additionally, series fans have highlighted that while some of Ramirez’s AJLT co-stars have expressed Pro-Palestine views online, they haven’t faced removal from the show.

Season 3 Speculations

Despite the turbulence, And Just Like That… was renewed for a third season, and Ramirez’s name was on the cast list. King expressed excitement about exploring Che’s friendship with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker). But this doesn’t quite match up with the whispers about Ramirez’s departure.

The Final Curtain?

As we eagerly await the next season of And Just Like That…, Sara Ramirez’s exit mystery remains a tantalizing puzzle. Was it a creative decision or something more? Only time will tell.

Writer Reveals the Real Reason the ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Reboot Got Cancelled

Apparently, Disney was not ready to accept some of the adult themes that would take place with a 30-year-old Lizzie McGuire.

Disney Channel teases a reboot

Excitement surged among fans as news broke of a Lizzie McGuire reboot in production, featuring the original cast reprising their roles. Yet, the joy turned to heartbreak as the series met an abrupt cancellation before it could hit any streaming service. Now, insights from reboot writer Jonathan Hurwitz offer a glimpse into the possible reasons behind this sudden demise.

Instagram/@hilaryduff

Taking to TikTok, Hurwitz candidly revealed the show’s premise and shed light on Disney’s reservations about the proposed plot.

The first episode would have portrayed an adult Lizzie, working as an interior designer and living in her New York City apartment with her gay roommate. She’s also dating a gorgeous chef until she discovers he has been cheating on her with her best friend. Upon discovering his infidelity, Lizzie leaves the Big Apple and returns to her roots in California. Waiting there for her is, of course, the animated version of herself.

The second episode, filled with nostalgia, teased a reunion between Lizzie and her childhood friend turned love interest, Gordo. However, she quickly discovers Gordo is happily engaged and expecting a child, setting the stage for the rest of the series.

WARNING: Mature content ahead

Which brings us to the third episode. Although the team had yet to begin filming, its script hinted at a romantic encounter between Lizzie and her childhood crush, Ethan Craft.

“Lizzie wakes up in Ethan’s bed, in his water polo t-shirt,” the writer recalled in the video. “Animated Lizzie pops up and she has this little checklist, like a to-do list, and Ethan is on the list and she checks it off.

“I think she says something like, ‘I checked that box – dramatic pause – twice.'”

These mature themes, including the inclusion of a gay character, made the reboot more relevant and relatable to today’s audience.

Reasons for Cancellation

Though the company has not issued a statement as to exactly why they cancelled the reboot, Hurwitz said it’s likely, “that moment was probably one of them.”

Known for its family-friendly content, the entertainment company expressed discomfort with the direction of the reboot. The creative differences between Disney and Hilary Duff, who pushed for a more mature version of Lizzie McGuire, likely played a significant role in the series’ cancellation.

Instagram/@hilaryduff

In an interview with Women’s Magazine in 2022, Duff spoke about their… creative differences.

“She didn’t need to be doing bong rips and having one-night stands all the time, but it had to be authentic,” she said. “I think they got spooked.”

Disagreements heightened when the show’s original creator Terri Minsky was removed from the project.

Hilary Duff’s Stance on the Cancellation

Hilary Duff expressed disappointment over the cancellation and emphasized the need for an honest and authentic portrayal of Lizzie as an adult. She believed that the reboot should accurately reflect the real-life challenges and experiences of a 30-year-old woman.

Despite the setback, Duff remains optimistic about a future revival of Lizzie McGuire. Her statements have offered a glimmer of hope to fans eagerly awaiting the reboot.

“I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s what the character deserves. We can all take a moment to mourn the amazing woman she would have been and the adventures we would have taken with her. I’m very sad, but I promise everyone tried their best, and the stars just didn’t align.”

Disney’s History with Mature Content

Disney has previously demonstrated a willingness to address serious and real-life issues in its TV shows, such as eating disorders and LGBTQ+ issues. However, accusations from LGBTQ+ Pixar staff about Disney’s alleged censorship of gay affection in their projects have shed light on the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ representation in mainstream media.

As fans, we can remain hopeful for a future revival that stays true to an adult Lizzie McGuire’s experiences.

Awards season is dazzling in full force, and it’s the perfect moment to spotlight the fabulous LGBTQ+ highlights from the 75th Emmy Awards.

Elton John is an EGOT winner

Starting off, we have to talk about Sir Elton John’s incredible achievement: becoming the 19th person to achieve EGOT status. In other words, they have received an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award throughout their career.

The legendary singer-songwriter won the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) award for his work on his live concert special, Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium.

Though John could not attend the ceremony due to knee surgery, the special’s producer, Ben Winston, and John’s husband, David Furnish, accepted it on his behalf. Nevertheless, the icon crafted a unique statement to articulate his emotions about this particular moment.

“I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight,” he said. “The journey to this moment has been filled with passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of my fans all around the world. Tonight is a testament to the power of the arts and the joy that it brings to all our lives. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my career, I am incredibly grateful.”

Pedro Pascal brought his trans sister Lux as his date

Instagram/@pascalispunk

Pedro Pascal’s incredibly styled sling was not the only thing on his arm on Monday night. The actor also brought his beautiful sister, 31-year-old trans actress and model Lux Pascal, as his date for the evening.

Pascal has always been vocal about his love and respect for his sister, and we cannot handle the cuteness.

“Pedro has been an important part of this,” Lux said in a previous interview with Ya. “He’s also an artist and has served as a guide for me. He was one of the first people to gift me the tools that started shaping my identity.”

Last year, Pedro told Esquire that Lux “is and has always been one of the most powerful people and personalities I’ve ever known. My protective side is lethal, but I need her more than she needs me.”

Jennifer Coolidge’s message to the “evil gays”

Jennifer Coolidge, the queen of comedy, triumphed in the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category. She clinched the trophy for her hilariously quirky portrayal of the late Tanya McQoid in The White Lotus.

Known for her unforgettable speeches, Coolidge had her fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation of her next TV gem. True to form, she delivered with her trademark blend of humor and heart. “Mike White, thanks for this role of a lifetime… He’s convinced I’m definitely dead, so I guess I am!” she quipped.

Coolidge then playfully thanked “all the evil gays,” nodding to a famous line from the show, adding, “These gays… they’re trying to murder me!” Wrapping up her speech, she shared a slice of inspiration, “I had this little dream in my little town. Everyone said it was a no-go, but look at me now! So hey, don’t ever give up on your dreams.”

Niecy Nash-Betts wins first Pimetime Emmy

In a moment that blended heart and humor, Niecy Nash-Betts lit up the Emmy stage, scooping up the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series. Her unforgettable role as Glenda Cleveland in the buzzworthy “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” series earned her this well-deserved accolade.

With her signature sparkle, the 53-year-old actress expressed her gratitude to Ryan Murphy and co-star Evan Peters. She also gave a shoutout to her wife, queer singer Jessica Betts, crediting her for being the rock that helped her through the emotional toll of the role.

But the highlight? Nash-Betts’ hilarious yet heartfelt pat on the back to herself: “Go on, girl, with your bad self. You did that!

“Finally, I accept this award on behalf of every Black and brown woman who has fallen unheard, yet overpoliced,” she said. “Like Glenda Clevelend, like Sandra Bland, like Breonna Taylor. As an artist, my job is to speak truth to power, and baby I’m gonna do it till the day I die. Momma, I won!”

 Big Wins for The Bear

Queer actress Ayo Edebiri, also known for her iconic role in the lesbian comedy Bottoms, took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for The Bear. In the show, Edebiri shines as Sydney, a young, ambitious chef navigating the high-pressure world of a gourmet kitchen. Her portrayal embodies resilience and determination, making Sydney a relatable and inspiring character amidst the show’s intense culinary backdrop.

“This is a show about family and found family and real family, and my parents are here tonight and I’m making them sit far away from me because I’m a bad kid but thank you,” Edebiri said during her speech.

“Thank you so much for loving me and letting me feel beautiful and Black and proud of all of that. I love you so much. Probably not a dream to immigrate to this country and have your daughter go ‘I wanna do improv,’ but you are real ones.”

Reneé Rapp Talks Straight Girl Crushes

Regina George from the 2004 classic Mean Girls remains a cult favorite, etching herself into the cultural zeitgeist. Played by Rachel McAdams, Regina’s character is a total baddie full of undeniable allure.

“Rachel McAdams was a big crush of mine as a kid and still is,” Rapp revealed. “I’ve spent a lot of the last couple of weeks publicly hitting on her. I’ll continue to do so. It’s my civic duty. She’s amazing.”

Amen to that! But what makes Regina such a queer icon? Is it her blonde locks or the art of delivering insults that leave people oddly grateful?

“I think there’s something, at least in my experience, when you’re in high school, there’s something in the really popular hot straight girl as maybe a closeted or out gay person that’s really attractive in a different way.” Rapp continued. “And I don’t really know how to explain it, but I think it’s like there’s some lore that’s like, oh my God, I remember that girl for me in middle school and high school was always straight. Was always straight. And I was obsessed. So I think that for me has always been there.”

Regina George is Gay

Though the Regina George we all have come to know and love has been portrayed as very straight, the “Snow Angel” singer said her version will challenge that. “And then I also think now playing this character myself, I’m very determined to just be quite stubborn and insist that a character that I play is probably going to have my identity. Unless I’m trying to have a Rachel McAdams run and do The Notebook and do a straight Notebook. But I don’t think I’m trying to do that. So yeah, I think it just kind of inherently is because a gay person is doing it that meme that’s like, why is that dog sitting gay? Do you know what I mean? You know what I’m talking about? It’s like, why is that dog sat gay and it’s like a dog like this? And it’s like, that dog is gay. To be clear. Right? It’s like, why does she walk gay? Because she’s gay.”

Why is Regina George so gay in the new Mean Girls movie? Because she is gay. The End.
