Danity Kane fans in Los Angeles were left with a broken heart after Aubrey O’Day had to sit out the group’s latest reunion show due to a sudden health scare. The pop diva, 41, announced Wednesday, Dec. 10, that she was in the emergency room, forcing her to miss the latest stop on the group’s highly anticipated “Untold Chapter Tour.”
“My loves… I am so sorry. I’ve become extremely sick and physically can’t make tonight’s show as I’m in the ER,” O’Day reportedly wrote in an expired Instagram Stories post, according to multiple outlets, including TMZ and Parade. “I’ve been fighting it all day, spinning around in my head trying to find any way to make this work, but being sick is being sick — it’s completely out of my control.”
The singer, who rose to fame after being selected for Danity Kane on MTV’s Making the Band in 2005, expressed profound disappointment over letting her loyal audience down. “My heart is broken because I never want to let you down,” she stated. O’Day promised fans she would return to the stage as soon as her health allowed, adding that she knew her bandmates would still “give you an incredible performance tonight.”
The Show Must Go On
Despite O’Day’s absence, fellow Danity Kane members Aundrea Fimbres and D. Woods kept the show rolling as a duo for the Los Angeles concert. The “Untold Chapter Tour” kicked off just one night earlier, on Dec. 9, in San Francisco, with the group next slated to perform in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Friday, Dec. 12.
The reunion was announced on Instagram in October and has been touted as a “reckoning” for the group, though original members Dawn Richard and Shannon Bex are not participating. The tour promises “setlists reshaped, confessions revealed, and moments that will never happen the same way twice.”
A Heavy Time for O’Day
O’Day’s hospitalization comes on the heels of a particularly “intense, overwhelming” period. Just days before the tour began, she reflected on the emotional weight of recent weeks in a separate Instagram Story post on Dec. 11.
Her candid reflections followed her appearance in the new Netflix docuseries, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, where she spoke publicly about her working relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs during her time on Bad Boy Records. O’Day claimed that Combs, 56, allegedly crossed a line and that she was ultimately fired for “not participating sexually” with him, a claim she had spoken on previously.
The singer mentioned the impact of the “Netflix drop, the world now knowing things that were hard for me to say and everything I’ve [learned] since,” contributing to what she described as a “very heavy time.” Despite the stress, O’Day shared a photo of herself being carried on stage, expressing happiness that she saw herself “fully released” while on stage with her Danity Kane sisters and family.
“I can’t wait to see you next show,” she concluded, a sentiment her fans undoubtedly share as they wait for her triumphant return to the stage.
