Lil Nas X Says His Friendship with Camila Cabello Helped Him Gain Confidence Again During Challenging Times

0

Friendship is at the heart of Lil Nas X and Camila Cabello’s newly forged connection, which blossomed during their collaboration on the 2024 track “He Knows.” In a new cover story for Paper magazine, Lil Nas X, the 25-year-old Grammy-winning artist, opened up about the meaningful partnership with Cabello and how their collaboration helped him regain his confidence at a difficult time in his life.

The rapper and singer, known for his chart-topping hits like “Industry Baby” and “Old Town Road,” discussed how working with Cabello, 28, served as a source of inspiration and emotional support. He described the experience as more than just a professional collaboration, emphasizing how the two artists uplifted each other both creatively and personally.

“We did a great job at uplifting each other and showing each other how we view the situation and how we view each other from outside of ourselves,” said Lil Nas X. He went on to express how deeply impactful it was to receive validation from someone whose work he admires. “Once you make up your mind: ‘Oh, the world doesn’t see me as something great or feels like I’ve done anything amazing.’ To hear affirmation from somebody who you greatly respect, and you love what they’ve done, it feels great, especially because you can feel like it comes from a genuine place, and not like someone trying to get something from you.”

Lil Nas X and Cabello, who previously collaborated on “He Knows,” a playful anthem about rivalry and relationships, are seen in the song’s music video engaging in a dramatic altercation where Lil Nas X pulls out Cabello’s hair at a nightclub. The duo fights over a man, with their confrontation escalating into a theatrical showdown. Yet beyond the tension seen on screen, their real-life friendship has been a grounding and positive force for both stars.

Lil Nas X continued to describe his time spent with Cabello as a refreshing break from the pressures of fame, calling their moments together “fun” and “genuine.” The collaboration occurred at a time when Lil Nas X was in the process of easing back into social spaces after facing personal challenges. The two spent time together at the 2024 Met Gala and multiple after-parties, during which Lil Nas X found comfort in Cabello’s company.

“It was just genuine fun,” he recalled. “It didn’t feel like work.” He went on to share how Cabello’s support made him feel more at ease, saying, “She made me feel so good. She made me feel so great. And that was the beginning of me getting my confidence back.” For Lil Nas X, the connection with Cabello marked a pivotal turning point in his personal growth. “To finally be at this place, where I’m like, ‘Okay, I know who the f— I am. I know where I’m going. I don’t care what none of these bitches say. I didn’t care at first. Why do I care now?’”

In his recent music, Lil Nas X has continued to explore themes of confidence and self-empowerment. In March 2025, he released his latest single, “Hotbox,” which quickly gained attention. Alongside the track, he dropped an EP titled Days Before Dreamboy, featuring several promotional songs that showcase a lighter, more carefree side of his artistry.

Reflecting on why “Hotbox” felt like the right choice for his latest major release, Lil Nas X told Paper, “‘Hotbox’ seemed light. It didn’t seem like me trying to prove something to my haters.” This sentiment marks a departure from his earlier tracks, which at times carried an edge of defiance. Lil Nas X explained how, for a period, he was consumed with the desire to retaliate against his critics, but he realized that this was not the energy he wanted to put into his music anymore. “For a minute I was like, ‘I want to get back at my detractors for how they made me feel,’” he said. “I was like, ‘No bitch. I want to make a bubbly, fun song.’”

The playful, upbeat nature of “Hotbox” reflects Lil Nas X’s evolving mindset, especially as the world faces heightened tensions. “I know a lot of people are very scared in the world right now, about all the s— that’s happening, especially in our own country,” he said. “S— is happening so fast. I don’t want to think about it. And I don’t mean that in the sense of being dismissive, but I’m just so f—ing tired of being tired of this s—.”

The artist emphasized the importance of providing an escape from the heaviness of the world, even if just for a few minutes. “If this song could even for three minutes make somebody forget what’s going on and feel some oblivious joy, then so be it,” Lil Nas X added, showcasing his focus on positivity and bringing lightness to his fans during a time when many feel overwhelmed.

Throughout his career, Lil Nas X has remained an outspoken advocate for individuality, self-expression, and LGBTQ+ visibility in the entertainment industry. His personal growth and confidence are mirrored in his music, which continues to serve as both a reflection of his journey and a beacon for his fans. As he works with talented artists like Camila Cabello and releases new, joyful tracks like “Hotbox,” Lil Nas X is showing the world that it’s possible to thrive and embrace one’s true self, even amid challenges and criticism.

For Lil Nas X, this new chapter is about standing in his power and embracing both his artistic voice and personal identity with pride. His collaboration with Cabello and his music are a testament to how, through friendship, mutual support, and creative expression, anyone can regain their confidence and keep pushing forward.

Fans and critics alike will no doubt continue to watch with excitement as Lil Nas X grows and evolves both professionally and personally. His unapologetic authenticity is not only redefining what it means to be a star in today’s music landscape but also setting a powerful example of self-love, resilience, and the importance of surrounding oneself with positive influences.

West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Launches WeHappy Wednesdays to Support Local Businesses

0

The West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce (WHCC), in partnership with the City of West Hollywood, is introducing a new initiative aimed at boosting the local economy and supporting small businesses. WeHappy Wednesdays, which runs throughout April 2025, will offer free parking at all parking meters, city-owned surface lots, and city parking structures every Wednesday evening from 4 PM to midnight.

This initiative, part of WHCC’s broader WeHo Gives Back program, is designed to make it easier for residents, visitors, and the surrounding community to enjoy everything West Hollywood has to offer while supporting local businesses.

“WeHappy Wednesdays is more than just free parking. It’s about ensuring our local businesses remain vital and thriving,” said Genevieve Morrill, President and CEO of WHCC. “We want to encourage people to come out, visit their favorite spots, discover new venues, and experience the best that West Hollywood has to offer—whether that’s dining, shopping, or entertainment.”

By offering free parking during a key evening time, WeHappy Wednesdays aims to eliminate one of the common obstacles that can deter people from visiting the area: the cost of parking. With this initiative, WHCC hopes to drive foot traffic to West Hollywood’s vibrant mix of shops, restaurants, galleries, and entertainment venues, particularly during the spring season.

The initiative is particularly timely as many local businesses continue to recover from the economic challenges of the past few years, including the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent wildfires. With shifting consumer habits and rising costs, small businesses in West Hollywood have faced a difficult road to recovery. WeHappy Wednesdays is a direct response to these challenges, providing an opportunity for both longtime residents and newcomers to rediscover the city’s eclectic and dynamic local scene.

West Hollywood is home to more than 200 entertainment-oriented businesses, including renowned restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and lounges, along with art galleries and boutique stores. These businesses play a vital role in shaping the city’s unique identity and contribute to its reputation as a world-class destination.

“We’re here to help our businesses navigate the current economic climate,” Morrill added. “By giving the community an incentive to visit and enjoy West Hollywood’s diverse offerings, we are also fostering a sense of community. We want to create a shared responsibility for the city’s success, where everyone has a role to play in supporting the businesses that make West Hollywood such a special place.”

The initiative is part of WHCC’s ongoing WeHo Gives Back program, which seeks to strengthen the local economy and enhance the well-being of the community. By offering free parking for four hours every Wednesday evening in April, WeHappy Wednesdays hopes to provide a financial relief to both local businesses and patrons, while also encouraging people to return to the city to enjoy dining, shopping, and nightlife without worrying about the hassle of parking fees.

For more information about WeHappy Wednesdays, including details on parking locations and participating businesses, visit the WHCC website at wehochamber.com/wehogivesback. Additionally, individuals interested in supporting WHCC’s efforts through donations can do so by visiting www.pledge.to/weho-gives-back.

Kelly Clarkson Admits She Would Go for An Older Woman if She Was a Lesbian After That Viral Wink

0

More than a month after her viral moment sent waves through both sapphic and straight communities, Kelly Clarkson is finally addressing the wink that sent fans into a frenzy. The singer-turned-talk-show host has been receiving endless attention for a playful moment during her performance of The Outfield’s “Your Love” on The Kelly Clarkson Show—a moment that has continued to stir social media, leaving many questioning their own feelings.

In the February Kellyoke segment, Clarkson delivered a sultry rendition of the 1980s hit, singing the lyrics, “You know I like my girls a little bit older,” and following it with a flirty wink. The viral clip quickly took over TikTok, sparking a wave of reactions from fans. For many, the wink was just as captivating as the performance itself, and it became a moment that kept social media buzzing.

On Wednesday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, comedian and guest Whitney Cummings stepped in as the temporary host and took the opportunity to grill Clarkson about the viral moment. “Do you know that your cover of ‘Your Love’ has broken the internet?” Cummings asked, referring to the reaction from women who were left weak in the knees by Clarkson’s rendition.

Clarkson confessed she first learned of the viral sensation from the show’s musical director, who informed her that the clip had “blown up.” But Cummings was quick to point out just how impactful the performance had been: “Blew up? No, no women are leaving their husbands,” she joked, prompting laughter from the live studio audience.

The focus soon shifted to the wink. Clarkson, addressing the cause of the frenzy, casually acknowledged, “So I heard it’s because of the wink,” before giving Cummings another playful wink, which led to a hilarious response from the comedian.

“Don’t wink at me, Kelly! She just winked at me. I’m not strong enough!” Cummings exclaimed, adding some comic relief to the moment. She then took it a step further, explaining the viral sensation to the audience. “She winks at the camera like a home-wrecker!” Cummings joked, adding even more heat to the already sizzling moment.

Clarkson, ever the professional, gave a candid explanation for her wink, admitting she started adding them into her performances to “be cute and playful with the audience.” Over time, the winks became a signature part of her stage presence. “So now I incorporate like a wink here and there. But I happened to do it on a line that — it was on purpose. It was cute,” Clarkson said, explaining that it was simply meant to add a bit of charm to her performance.

Despite the light-hearted nature of the conversation, Clarkson also acknowledged the deeper impact of her viral moment. Reflecting on the line she sang, she said, “It was a cute line, and if I was a lesbian, I would shoot for an older woman, I’m just saying.” The comment sent ripples through the crowd, and LGBTQ+ fans were quick to react, seeing the remark as a playful nod that many interpreted as offering some hope for sapphic women everywhere.

The moment between Clarkson and Cummings brought some humor and insight to the viral sensation, providing fans with a behind-the-scenes look at what turned out to be an unintended but widely celebrated flirtatious gesture. Fans who had been fixated on the performance and the wink for weeks now had some clarity, with Clarkson herself admitting it was all in good fun.

Since the release of the performance, the TikTok video has continued to be shared, remixed, and commented on, with reactions pouring in from both men and women. Some fans admitted they were left questioning their own preferences after seeing Clarkson’s playful moment, while others embraced the fun and flirtatious energy she brought to the stage.

While the viral clip may have left many fans reeling, Clarkson’s explanation only added to the allure of her charismatic and playful persona. It’s clear that the performance was far from just another segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show. For many, it was a defining moment that solidified Clarkson’s status as a beloved figure in the entertainment world, particularly among LGBTQ+ audiences who were captivated by her carefree attitude and unabashed charm.

As for the future, fans can expect more Kellyoke performances to include those signature winks, but this time, they’ll likely be watching just a little more closely. Clarkson’s wink may have started as a playful gesture, but its viral impact shows how a simple moment of fun can resonate with an audience, spark conversation, and even change perceptions.

For those who haven’t yet seen the iconic performance, it’s not too late to check it out. Just be prepared: after watching it, you may find yourself questioning your own feelings, just like so many others have. As Clarkson herself put it, “It was cute.” And sometimes, a little bit of cute can go a long way.

Everything You Need Know About Poppers: The Good, Bad, and Everything in Between

Poppers have been a staple in the gay community for decades, often used to enhance sexual experiences and provide a quick rush of euphoria. But what exactly are poppers? Here’s what you need to know about this widely used, yet misunderstood, substance.

What Are Poppers?

Poppers is the slang term for alkyl nitrites, a class of chemicals used primarily for recreational purposes. Though often associated with the LGBTQ+ community, especially within sexual contexts, poppers have gained wider recognition in some straight clubs as well. It’s important to understand exactly what you’re inhaling when using poppers.

Photo: Alamy
Photo: Alamy

How Do Poppers Work?

Poppers work by relaxing smooth muscles in the body, including the sphincter muscles in the anus, which is why many people use them during sex. When you inhale poppers, they cause blood vessels to dilate, leading to an increase in heart rate and blood flow, which in turn creates the euphoric feeling associated with their use.

A Cultural Staple Since the 1970s

The use of poppers has deep ties to the gay disco scene of the 1970s. Many gay men would sniff poppers while dancing at clubs to enhance the music and create a heightened sense of pleasure. By the 1990s, poppers became a popular accessory at gay raves. Over time, their use expanded beyond LGBTQ+ spaces, and now some straight individuals use them recreationally in non-sexual settings, especially in club environments.

The Danger of Mixing Poppers and Viagra

It’s crucial to be cautious when using poppers in combination with other substances. Poppers and Viagra both cause a drop in blood pressure, which can be dangerous when used together. This dangerous combination can result in fainting, stroke, or even heart attack or death, according to the LGBT Foundation. Always be aware of the risks when using poppers.

Ingestion of Poppers Can Be Deadly

While inhaling poppers is relatively safe in moderation, ingesting them can have lethal consequences. The U.S. National Library of Medicine warns that ingestion, whether intentional or accidental, can result in death. Poppers are meant to be inhaled through the nose, not consumed.

Who Uses Poppers?

Though poppers have been popular in certain communities, they’re not as widely used as other recreational drugs. Only about 3 percent of the population reports using poppers. This is a much smaller percentage compared to the 10 percent of U.S. adults who have smoked marijuana within the past year. Poppers’ popularity is predominantly confined to gay men, reflecting the demographic most likely to use them.

Legal Controversies: The UK’s Attempt to Ban Poppers

In early 2023, the UK nearly banned poppers, citing concerns over safety. However, the move failed due to a technicality, as reported by The Guardian. While poppers remain legal in many countries, their regulation is often contentious.

Canada’s Ban on Poppers

In 2013, Canada moved to ban the sale of poppers, warning that selling them could lead to a three-year jail sentence or a $5,000 fine. This was part of a broader effort to regulate substances associated with recreational drug use.

Health Risks of Poppers

Like any substance, poppers come with potential health risks. Short-term effects can include lightheadedness, headaches, dizziness, and fainting. Long-term use can lead to eye damage, including a condition known as “Poppers Maculopathy,” which can cause vision loss. High doses of poppers can also lead to methaemoglobinaemia, a condition in which blood cells lose the ability to carry oxygen, similar to carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the LGBT Foundation.

The Prescription History of Amyl Nitrite

Amyl nitrite, a type of alkyl nitrite, was originally sold as a prescription drug in the U.S. in 1937 for the treatment of chest pain. However, it was taken off the prescription list in 1960 due to its relatively low risk of harm. By 1969, it was reinstated as a prescription drug. Despite this, you can still find other alkyl nitrites, which are marketed under different names such as “nail polish remover,” in sex shops. These versions are typically available legally for recreational use.
