Forget the poker face. Miley is here to make everybody dance.

The pop icon has released “Bass Persuades,” the first single from her upcoming 10th studio album of the same name. Naturally, it arrived with a sexy new music video that turns an otherwise serious New York poker club into the hottest dance floor in town.

Directed by Mert Alas, the video begins with Miley surrounded by players who seem far more interested in their cards than moving their bodies. That does not last long. Once the beat kicks in, the room quickly trades poker chips for killer moves as Miley convinces nearly everyone to get up and let loose.

Maybe it is Miley. Maybe it is the bass. Either way, we are persuaded.

Miley Is Coming for the Dance Floor

“Bass Persuades” is a pulsing dance-pop track packed with ’80s-inspired synths and the kind of beat that makes standing still feel almost impossible.

“The kids don’t wanna dance,” Miley sings at the beginning of the song. Honestly, she’s not wrong.

Although she teased the single while holding a Fender Stratocaster, the finished song is not the rock anthem fans may have expected. Instead, Miley has delivered a full-on club track that feels made for dark rooms, flashing lights and making questionable decisions with attractive strangers.

The video matches that energy perfectly. Miley moves through the poker club like she owns it, slowly pulling everyone around her into an increasingly sweaty and uninhibited party.

It is also our official introduction to Miley’s newest era, which comes with one major change: She has dropped Cyrus from her professional name. Her social media pages and promotional materials now simply read “Miley.”

She is entering her one-name era, and honestly, we love it.

What We Know About ‘Bass Persuades’

Bass Persuades arrives Sept. 18 through Atlantic Records. The 10-track album will be Miley’s first project with the label and follows her 2025 visual album, Something Beautiful.

Miley explained the meaning behind the new album in an emotional Instagram post.

“Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on,” she wrote. “It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong.”

She added, “Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me.”

The album will also feature New York rock band Model/Actriz, which is joining Miley for her upcoming shows at the Hollywood Bowl.

Miley Is Finally Returning to the Stage

Miley will perform at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Oct. 16 and 18. The dates will mark her first full concerts in the United States since 2021, making them a very big deal for fans who have been waiting years to see her headline another major show.

The performances are expected to bring Bass Persuades to the stage, with Miley reportedly set to perform the new album in full.

“Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true,” she wrote while announcing the project. “I sincerely hope you love this album.”

Miley Honors Her Late Godmother, Dolly Parton

The new era also arrives during an emotional time for Miley, who lost her beloved godmother, Dolly Parton, last month. In a heartfelt tribute, Miley said their “most sacred moments” would remain private while reflecting on one of their final conversations about music and transformation. She added that Parton would want her to process the loss, write about it and continue moving forward. “I have an angel by my side,” Miley wrote. “I will always love her and want to make her proud.”
