Before loading up the tour bus for their upcoming Gets So Hot tour, alternative-pop group MUNA gathered their inner circle in Los Angeles for a send-off dinner hosted alongside lifestyle brand UGG.
The intimate Tuesday night gathering took place at Wilde’s, a British-inspired neighborhood spot tucked away on Hillhurst Avenue in Los Feliz. Friends, family, and creative collaborators spent the evening enjoying seasonal California food, custom matchbooks, and fresh flower arrangements provided by Muddy Heaven.
Actor and comedian Kate Berlant joined the crowd to celebrate the trio as they prepare for their next chapter on the road.
Flash Tattoos And Engraved UGGs
The event focused heavily on personal touches rather than traditional corporate branding. Los Angeles artist Lambxchop set up shop inside the venue to hand out flash tattoos, while guest book stations featuring Polaroid cameras let attendees snap photos and write personal notes for the band’s road log.
Nearby, an on-site customization station allowed guests to get UGG Classic products engraved directly on the spot, combining the brand’s relaxed Southern California origins with the band’s distinct aesthetic.
The partnership between the footwear brand and the band centers on the idea of community and staying grounded while constantly moving from city to city.
A New Era For The Band
The tour comes right on the heels of MUNA’s fourth studio album, Dancing On The Wall. The new record marks a distinct shift from their self-titled 2022 release, leaning heavily into a post-punk and synth-pop sound that mirrors the frantic energy of living in modern Los Angeles.
Produced by band member Naomi McPherson with pop production support from Josette Maskin, the album builds a dark, fast-paced world around lead vocalist Katie Gavin’s sharp lyrical work.
“We still fall in and out of love,” the band said in a statement regarding the project. “We reach out to one another. Perhaps it’s a call to step outside the algorithm and into the richness of our lives.”
The group has steadily built a massive live footprint over the last few years. Harry Styles selected them as his very first support act for his debut solo tour, and they have since shared stadium and festival stages with Taylor Swift, Lorde, boygenius, and Phoebe Bridgers.
Living Beyond The Algorithm
While viral hits like “Silk Chiffon” helped introduce the trio to millions of listeners online, their real strength remains their ability to pack venues around the world with devoted fans.
Tracks off the new album, including “Wannabeher,” “So What,” and “Buzzkiller,” focus on modern anxieties, desire, and post-party loneliness. Yet, as demonstrated by their pre-tour bash in Los Feliz, the group continues to focus on real-world connections and shared moments with friends.
As MUNA sets off for the Gets So Hot tour, their collaboration with UGG serves as a quiet reminder to bring a little bit of home along for the ride.
