Netflix has unveiled new details about Heartstopper Forever, the upcoming feature film that will serve as the final chapter in Nick and Charlie’s story. And yes, tissues are absolutely required.
Written by Alice Oseman, the movie will continue after the emotional Season 3 finale, following Nick and Charlie as they face one of the biggest tests of young love yet: growing up. With university on the horizon and long-distance looming, the couple begins questioning whether first love can really last forever.
“The movie will be an exploration of time, memory, love, pain, the changing of the seasons, endings and beginnings, and the core element of Heartstopper: the ordinary magic of our everyday lives,” Oseman shared.

Kit Connor and Joe Locke Reflect on Saying Goodbye
For stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke, Heartstopper Forever marks an emotional full-circle moment. Both actors are stepping into executive producer roles for the first time as they help close out the beloved queer coming-of-age story.
“These characters have meant a lot to us over the years,” Connor said. “As EPs, it feels like we can really say goodbye to them in a way that feels the most right.”
Locke added, “This show has meant so much to me in my life. I’ll always carry that with me.”

A Bigger, More Cinematic Ending
While some fans were surprised the story is ending with a movie instead of another season, Oseman says the format actually allows the finale to become even more emotional and cinematic.
“We are feeling very ambitious about what is possible in a movie format,” Oseman explained. “Every part of Heartstopper can be elevated to a higher quality to create something memorable, sophisticated, and atmospheric.”
The film will also pull inspiration from Oseman’s upcoming sixth and final Heartstopper graphic novel, teasing major emotional growth for Charlie alongside Nick’s uncertainty about the future.

The Entire Gang Is Returning
Thankfully, it would not be Heartstopper without the full friend group. Returning cast members include Yasmin Finney, Will Gao, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, and Jenny Walser, alongside newcomers Anna Maxwell Martin and Derek Jacobi.

As Nick, Charlie, and their friends prepare for adulthood, Heartstopper Forever promises a final, bittersweet reminder that queer teenage love stories deserve happy endings, too — even if growing up means change.
