Pretty much everyone uses texting apps these days, meaning billions of folks are using all kinds of shorthand and slang to communicate with their friends, families, and co-workers. However, different contexts require different terms, and substituting an “okay” for “kk” or even the dreaded “k.” can cause a massive shift in the tone of a conversation.
In this short article, we break down the ever-popular “kk”, what it means, and how it differs from all the other variations of saying okay.
“Kk”, or “kay-kay” when said aloud, is a shorthand for “okay” that’s used by people of all ages and backgrounds. However, this cutesy colloquialism has its ideal time and place. For example, you probably wouldn’t send a “kk” to your interviewer for a high-powered job. Instead, you’re more likely to text your buddies and acquaintances a casual “kk” than the more formal “okay”.

What Makes ‘Kk’ Different From ‘Okay’ Or ‘K’?
If you’re reading this article and thinking, “is kk really that different from okay?”, you aren’t alone. Many people struggle with the hyper-specific intricacies of text-based communication. But it’s nice to know the difference so you don’t accidentally ruin a good conversation’s vibe.
Earlier, we mentioned that it probably isn’t a good idea to insert a quick “kk” in work-related correspondence. That’s because “kk” is meant for more casual contexts between friends and family. Compared to the much more formal “okay”, “kk” can introduce a bit of levity and keep a text conversation from sounding too serious.
On the other side of the okayness spectrum is “k.” (period included.) While practical and time-saving, sending a single “k.” might make your recipient feel like they’ve somehow upset you.
Final Thoughts On ‘Kk’
Texting is a quick way to get your point across without making a phone call, and using shortcuts and slang can make the experience much easier. However, texting language evolves exceptionally quickly, and there are a variety of connotations depending on which term you use.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the term “kk”. While it’s used almost interchangeably with “okay”, it’s a less serious form of the word, best used for casual conversations with friends and family.

Whether you’re an avid social media user or an online bulletin board veteran, you’ve probably come across a few internet slang words you don’t understand. MYB is one of the newer colloquialisms to hit popular social media sites. However, like many other terms, it can mean several things based on how it’s used. So what does MYB mean?
Keep reading to learn more about what it means, and how folks both young and old are using it on Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter.
MYB is shorthand for numerous phrases, but its current most common use case is “mind your business” or the less formal “mind yo business!” Today’s MYB is a shorter variant of the older MYOB or “Mind Your Own Business.”
Earlier, we mentioned that MYB could mean several things based on its use case. Knowing some less common definitions can help you break through even the most impenetrable walls of text slang. Here are some of the other meanings for MYB:
Move your body
Meet your baby
My bad or my baby (written as “my b”)
Move your butt
Market your business

How Do People Use MYB?
Generally speaking, people write MYB when they want other folks to stay away from their personal business. So, if someone’s asking too many questions or inserting themselves into your affairs, text them a quick “MYB” to get your point across without the drama. And, if they don’t know what it means, feel free to send them this article so we can explain it for you.
Here’s a sample conversation in its most common context:
Person 1: Hey, didn’t you wear that same wig at last night’s drag show?
Person 2: Hey, how about you MYB?
How To Pronounce MYB
Now that you know MYB, its meaning, and how to use it, it’s essential to brush up on its pronunciation if you plan to say it in person. When using the “mind your business” definition, most folks spell out each letter as “ehm-why-bee.” Conversely, others may decide to pronounce this shorthand as “my b” or the even more succinct “mib.”
Final Thoughts On MYB
Text slang is an incredibly efficient way to get your point across without over-explaining yourself, and MYB is one of the most common ways to tell people to step off. However, it tends to come off as a little rude, so you may want to use it with caution.

The official trailer for the last season of the hit Spanish teen drama Elite dropped in March. Now, just five months later, Netflix is already gearing up for Elite: Season 6. The date announcement trailer dropped on Netflix’s official YouTube today and let’s just say things got wet.
If you haven’t seen Elite before, you have our sympathy. Let us give you a quick rundown on what to expect. Elite, written Élite in Spanish, takes place in Las Encinas, a fictional secondary school for mostly wealthy students. The storyline follows these students and their interpersonal drama, which includes their sexual exploits and even murder. Known for its scandalous and highly sexualized storyline, Elite has been known to make even Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova blush. Yes, once again, drag queens are the litmus test.
Elite is also unapologetically queer. From the beginning, it has included queer storylines. Storylines that look very different from the typical young adult queer storylines.

Take A Closer Look
For those of you watching the series, you’ll remember that season 5 left off on a pretty major cliffhanger. Fans are left wondering, *spoiler alert* did Netflix just kill off a major character in the series? We finished off season 6 with Benjamin being loaded into the back of a police car while the gang mourned the apparent loss of Samu. We also watched as Isadora bravely filed a report with the police, despite knowing what she would likely be exposed to as a result. Finally, as all of this unfolded, we watched Iván and Partick finally embrace, putting to rest that messed-up love triangle. This show is all kinds of scandalizing, but that’s why we love it.
The teaser doesn’t give us anything in the way of clues, but it does give us something else. Particularly shots of the cast making out in an unlit shower, with the occasional flashing light. This is par for the course for dramas in the age of Euphoria. I don’t know about you, but you could use a long cold shower after this one. The teaser was met with mixed reactions on Instagram. Some fans have a hard time getting beyond the loss of their favorite characters in previous seasons.
So, will you join us as we embark on the new season, coming November 18?
Check out the date announcement for Elite: Season 6 below.
Another video of Trump has gone viral, and we can’t help but comment on it. Long story short, former president Donald Trump recently asked his followers to “Keep our country gay.” Trump rose to the highest office in the country with the now infamous “Make America Great Again,” campaign slogan. Is Trump, the same president who stacked the courts with anti-LGBTQ+, undergoing a rebrand? Not even a little.
While speaking at one of his many rallies, Trump had a teeny tiny slip of the tongue. The former president was in North Carolina to support the midterm candidates he endorsed when he made the boo-boo. In an attempt to reference his—now cliché—slogan, Trump called on his supporters to keep the country gay. “Remember I was going to say, to use an expression, ‘we have to keep our country gay,'” Trump said, before malfunctioning slightly. “But it’s not, I mean, for some reason, it’s just not great anymore.”
Listen, we are obviously on board with a gayer country, but at what cost? Seriously, the flub was funny enough, but the subsequent Twitter storm enshrined it into memedom. Check out some of our favorite select moments below.
As funny as the flub is, let it serve as a reminder of what’s at stake in this upcoming midterm and subsequent election cycle. Trump-endorsed public officials and a second Trump presidency. The untold damage Donald Trump could do to gay folks in a second term is hard to imagine. If you’re in Georgia, or anywhere else in the U.S. for that matter, make sure you’re registered to vote. We have to do our part in keeping this parody of a man very far away from the microphone at all costs. In the end, it seems the only time we agree with the former president is when he’s misspeaking. We can live with that.
As our understanding of sex and gender continues to evolve, so does our language. Today, we’re coming up with more and more terms to describe the vast spectrum of identities and orientations, from cisgender and transgender to non-binary and genderfluid – terms that go beyond the limiting, binary terms like “male” or “female”. But what is the difference between a man and a cis man?
Here, we clear up some confusion regarding the term cisgender and what it means to identify as a cis man.
A “cis man” is a man whose gender identity is aligned with his sex assigned at birth. This means that he was born with male sex characteristics, was assigned male at birth, and continues to identify as a man.
“Cis” is short for “cisgender”, which the Oxford English Dictionary describes as “a person whose sense of personal identity and gender corresponds to his or her sex at birth”. The term comes from the Latin prefix “cis”, which means “on this side”, and “gender”, which refers to the socially constructed characteristics assigned to men and women.
Your “innermost concept of self as male, female, both, or neither” is your gender identity.
Grustock/Shutterstock.com
How Do You Know If You’re A Cis Man
A vast majority of people identify as cisgender. This means that they’re “at home” with the gender and pronouns with which they were raised. Typically, they don’t feel any kind of incongruence with the sex characteristics with which they were born. And the gender identity that is typically associated with these characteristics.
Is A Cis Man The Same As A Straight Man?
No, cisgender is not the same as straight. Whereas cisgender refers to one’s gender identity; straight (or heterosexual) refers to one’s sexual orientation. In other words, to whom you are attracted. To be straight means to be attracted to people of the opposite gender.
You can be cisgender and straight. This is often referred to as “cishet”, short for cisgender heterosexual. But being cisgender doesn’t automatically make you straight, and vice versa.
Sexual orientation and gender identity are two independent components of one’s identity. Thus, they don’t necessarily influence one another. You can be cisgender and gay, bisexual, or pansexual, as well as be straight and transgender.
What Is A Trans Man?
A “trans man” is someone whose gender identity is incongruent with their sex assigned at birth. The term is rooted in the Latin prefix “trans”, which means “on the other side of”. Being trans is often regarded as the “opposite” of being cisgender.
How Do You Know If You’re A Trans Man?
Transgender men are typically born with female sex characteristics and assigned female at birth. However, as they grow up, they realize that their assigned sex does not match how they feel inside. Rather than identifying with all the gender norms, behaviors, and characteristics we associate with women, trans men feel more in line with what we typically expect of men.
Many trans men also grapple with gender dysphoria, a feeling of severe distress or discomfort stemming from this “mismatch” between their assigned sex and their gender identity. For many trans men, gender dysphoria can be exacerbated by things like being forced to wear more feminine clothing, misgendered, and referred to by their given “female” name. Gender dysphoria is linked with higher risks of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation in trans people.
It should be noted that not all trans people experience gender dysphoria. Thus, gender dysphoria is not a prerequisite to identifying as trans.

Do You Have To Medically Transition To Identify As A Trans Man?
No, masculinizing surgery and hormone therapy are not the be-all, end-all “solution” for those who wish to transition. In fact, being trans is not about transitioning – it’s about identifying as something other than your sex assigned at birth. Trans people who don’t undergo any kind of transitioning (whether by choice or due to financial or health reasons) are still trans and their gender identity is still valid.
There are also other ways to transition aside from medical transitioning. Social transitioning involves introducing one’s chosen or lived name to loved ones, sharing one’s personal pronouns, and coming out as trans to one’s family, friends, community, school, and/or workplace. Legal transitioning involves changing one’s gender markers and legal name on one’s identity documents.
Is Being Trans The Same As Being Intersex?
No, being trans is not the same as being intersex. Intersex people are those who are “born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t fit into the boxes of ‘female’ or ‘male’”. This can mean a variety of things, from having male external organs and female internal organs to having combinations of chromosomes that are different from the typical XY (male) or XX (female) chromosomes.

So, What Is The Difference Between A Man And A Cis Man (And A Trans Man)?
The short answer: nothing. Cisgender men are men and transgender men are men. In other words, anyone who identifies as a man is a man – it’s really that simple.
Your sex characteristics and sex assigned at birth don’t necessarily have to coincide with your gender identity. No matter what’s in your pants or on your birth certificate, when it comes to your gender identity, all that matters is how you identify.

In this article, we’ll go over what it means to be homoromantic, its relationship with homosexuality, and the difference between romantic and sexual orientation.
Being homoromantic means you feel a romantic attraction to the same or a similar gender. The prefix homo- comes from the Greek word homos, meaning “the same”. The root word is “romantic”, which refers to an expression of love. When combined, homoromantic means an expression of love towards a person of the same or a similar gender.
Most people who identify as homosexual are also homoromantic, meaning they feel both romantically and sexually attracted to the same or a similar gender. However, one can have romantic feelings towards a particular person or gender while not feeling sexually attracted to them.

Homoromantic vs Homosexual vs Asexual
Homosexual and asexual are both terms that describe a person’s sexual orientation. Homoromantic, on the other hand, describes a person’s romantic orientation.
Let’s break these terms down into their basic definitions:
Homoromantic: A romantic orientation that describes an attraction to the same gender
Homosexual: A sexual orientation that describes an attraction to the same gender
Asexual: A sexual orientation that describes little to no sexual attraction
It’s important to note that there is a difference between romantic and sexual orientations.
Romantic orientation describes a person’s romantic attraction to a particular gender. It is separate from sexual attraction. When you’re romantically attracted to someone, it means that you want to date them and be in a relationship with them. Note how sexual desire and attraction are absent from this definition.
Meanwhile, sexual orientation describes a person’s sexual attraction to a particular gender. This is different from romantic attraction – you could desire sexual interactions with a person but not necessarily want to date or be intimate with them in a romantic way.

Homoromantic As A Romantic Orientation
Though the term homoromantic may sound new to some, the homoromantic orientation has always existed. One can be romantically attracted to the same or a similar gender while being sexually attracted to completely different genders.
Let’s take look at a few examples of how homoromantic orientation can be combined with varying sexual orientations:
Homoromantic asexual: A person who is romantically attracted to the same or a similar gender but feels little to no sexual attraction to any gender
Homoromantic homosexual: A person who is both romantically and sexually attracted to the same or a similar gender
Homoromantic heterosexual: A person who is romantically attracted to the same or a similar gender while only being sexually attracted to the opposite gender

3 Signs You Might Be Homoromantic
Being homoromantic can manifest in different ways, so it’s not the same for everyone. That said, here are some signs you might be homoromantic.
You See Yourself Dating Someone Of The Same Gender
Perhaps you’ve always identified as heterosexual but you’ve recently started having feelings towards a person of the same or a similar gender. Maybe you’ve fallen for a best friend of the same gender, and feel drawn to that person romantically, but have no desire to be physically intimate with them.
This could be a sign you’re homoromantic. It’s important to remember that romantic and sexual orientations are fluid and can change over time.
Your Interest In The Opposite Gender Doesn’t Feel Intimate
You might feel that your relationships with the opposite gender have been missing something. Maybe you’ve always been with and sexually desired people of the opposite gender, but as far as romance is concerned, you don’t feel any deeper connection. This could be a sign that you’re homoromantic.
When You Imagine A Long-Term Partner, It’s Someone Of The Same Gender
When you think of being in a long-term, committed relationship — moving in together, buying a house, and starting a family — you see it with somebody who is not of the opposite gender. If you are experiencing these feelings, it could be a sign that you are homoromantic. As with everything, it’s important to think about how it makes you feel and to follow your heart.

What To Do When A Loved One Comes Out As Homoromantic
Coming out can be a tough decision, especially if the person in question is still figuring it out or fears not being accepted. Here are the best things you can do if a loved one decides to come out as homoromantic:
Be supportive: It was likely a big decision to come out to you. Letting your loved one know that you’re there for them and support them no matter what will go a very long way.
Do your own research: You’ll be better informed and it will also show them that you care about their experience.
Be curious: It’s okay to ask questions – this demonstrates that you want to understand what they’re going through. Just know that they might still be figuring it out and may not have all the answers yet.
Talk to other homoromantic people: This can give you some great insight into other people’s coming out experiences and help you understand your loved one better.
Include them: If you do activities and go to events with your loved one, like a weekend movie night, keep doing them. One of the biggest fears people have when coming out is that family and friends will treat them differently. Maintaining your relationship will help ease that fear.
Final Thoughts
Homoromantic people are romantically attracted to the same or a similar gender. It’s possible to have “mixed orientations” in terms of romantic and sexual desire, so one can be heterosexual, pansexual, or asexual (or other sexual orientations) while only desiring romantic intimacy with the same gender.
If you’re questioning whether or not you are homoromantic, take your time to process what you’re feeling. Figuring out your identity is a personal journey. If a loved one or a friend has come out as homoromantic, the best thing you can do is be there for them and let them know that you stand by them.
Whatever the case may be, just remember that orientation and gender are fluid and can change over time. Humans are amazing and emotionally complex beings – understanding this helps us better understand the people around us, our society, and the beautifully diverse world we live in.
