Hunter Schafer Directs Girl in Red’s Latest Music Video
It’s the collaboration of our dreams.
girl in red released a new music video, and they hired Hunter Schafer to come and direct it. Marie Ulven is the woman behind girl in red and is responsible for several queer anthems since hitting the music scene in 2021. More so, asking someone if they listen to girl in red has become a sly way of asking if a woman is into other women.

What’s the song about?
The latest music video is for the song “hornylovesickmess,” which is from girl in red’s debut album, if i could make it go quiet. The song captures the back and forth of wanting to be with someone – but not quite enough to actually follow through and go and get them.

The music video is filled with shots that invoke the same kind of regret. “Being able to make a video with Hunter for the album’s anniversary was so cool,” Ulven said. “We had so many ideas after the first time we hung out and it was cool to be with another creative in that way.”
girl in red meets Euphoria
The collaboration has fans particularly excited because Ulven’s album also includes a song inspired by HBO’s Euphoria, in which Schafer stars. The song “Rue” is inspired by Zendaya’s character, which Schafer’s character Jules dates on and off throughout the show. The two coming together to create this video is definitely a sapphic dream we don’t want to wake up from.
The music video is Schafer’s first time directing, and hopefully not her last! She did great!

Students Protest After a Teacher was Fired for Helping LGBTQ+ Teen
The teacher was reportedly fired for providing a transgender student with a hotline number.
Before he was let go earlier this month, Andrew Burgess taught social studies at Lenape Middle School in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The young students at the school are now protesting their teacher’s dismissal.
What Happened to Andrew Burgess?
According to an online petition, Burgess gave a transgender student a hotline number after they confided in him about being bullied at school.
“It was kind of like a slap in the face to everyone that would go to him and stuff for, because I would consistently go to him for when I was being bullied and harassed within our school,” a student told Channel 9.
A dozen students also outraged by the news skipped class in favor of standing outside the school gates. Decked out in rainbow flags, they demanded the reinstatement of Mr. Burgess.
Another student added, “It was simply a hotline number, just in case the person needed help.”
Superintendent Responds to Student Outrage
At a meeting to discuss the incident, Superintendent Abe Lucabaugh called any claims that the teacher was fired for helping an LGBTQ+ student “categorically false.”
“I care very deeply about how kids feel, and we want to do a better job with it, but that narrative does not help,” he added.
However, Lucabaugh refused to provide an alternative reason for firing Burgess at this time.
In addition to protesting outside the school, Lenape Middle School students also started an online petition to get Burgess his job back. At the time of this article, the petition has nearly 5,000 signatures.

Unfortunately, Burgess isn’t the only teacher who has been let go for helping LGBTQ+ youth. In Ohio, a gay substitute teacher was fired for handing out Pride bracelets to students on campus. And with transphobia still present among students and teachers, many trans students are left without any resources to turn to.
Iconic Drag Stars Shine in ‘iCarly’s Latest Episode
Latest episode of iCarly is full of fabulous queens!
The beloved RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Kandy Muse, Mo Heart, Rosé, and Scarlet Envy team up to help Harper (Laci Mosley) in a special Friday the 13th episode of iCarly. And to make things even better- the drag queens all pulled outfit inspo from Reese Witherspoon’s iconic career.

Even though the drag queens are icons in real life, they play fake queens in the episode. Muse pulls from Witherspoon’s look in 2014’s Wild as she plays Curella Intentions. Heart portrays a character named Auntie Histamine who dresses up like the actress in 2008’s Four Christmases. Envy plays Lana Del Slay while dressing like Witherspoon in 1999’s Election. And last but certainly not least, Rosé’s Kimmy Kimmy More dressed to impress, pulling inspo from 2001’s Legally Blonde.
Iconic Moments From iCarly
The episode is filled with iconic moments, but our favorite one comes from a drag queen and Trader Joes crossover.
After finding out that “drag night” has been canceled, Harper asks the queens why they made such a grand entrance- only to bring bad news. Envy replies, “Why do Trader Joe’s employees look at one item in your cart and say, ‘Oh, I haven’t tried that yet!’ It’s in our nature.”
“You know who wouldn’t stand for this? Reese Witherspoon,” Harper says. “You’re going to have that ‘drag night,’ even if I have to bend and snap somebody’s neck.”
That might prove pretty difficult because the bar where the event was supposed to be held was shut down and is now turning into a Baby Gap. To see what happens next, tune in to iCarly season two on Paramount +.
Kendrick Lamar Talks About Trans Family Members in New Album
Kendrick Lamar’s fifth studio album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers is here.
In it, he talks about the different roles in a family structure, including his role as a father – but fans are talking about one song in particular. In “Auntie Diaries,” Lamar talks about his trans aunt, saying, “My auntie is a man now” while also using the f-word slur.

Here’s a verse from the song
“My auntie is a man now / I think I’m old enough to understand now / Drinking Paul Masson with her hat turned backwards / Back when it was comedic relief to say ‘[f-word]’ / [f-word], [f-word], [f-word], we ain’t know no better / Elementary kids with no filter, however / My auntie became a man and I took pride in it / She wasn’t gay, she ate p*ssy, and that was the difference / That’s what I told my friends in second grade / She picking me up from school, they stare at her in the face.”
He talks about how his religion plays a role in how he feels
His whole career, Lamar has been very open about his devout Christian faith. It’s something that he talks about in this song too. He says, “I sat in the pew, you had stronger faith / More spiritual when these dudes were living life straight / Which I found ironic ‘cause the pastor didn’t see him the same / He said my cousin was going through some things / He promised the world we living in was an act on abomination / And Demetrius was to blame.”
In a different part of the song, he says his “favorite cousin said he’s returning the favor / And following my auntie with the same behavior.”
He suggests that his cousin now goes by Mary-Ann and is following in his aunt’s footsteps.
There Are Mixed Opinions
While some people in the LGBTQ+ community are upset at Lamar’s use of deadnames and homophobic slurs, others think it’s great that a well-respected rapper is talking about his love and acceptance for his trans family members.
I just be tired of cishet men thinking they can make their own rules around how to engage queer and trans folks. No, baby. You claim to want to be better, well engage us how we tell you. Why must you always push a boundary with us and expect us to be grateful?

Kendrick Lamar dropped Auntie Diaries, a song about trans acceptance & intersectionality, while conservatives across the country are pushing a full on assault on all LGBTQIA+ people & their allies
He didn’t have to do this – he’ll probably get shit for it – but he did
Powerful.
