Paul Mescal is staying tight-lipped about his relationship with singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams. In a new Rolling Stone profile published Monday, Sept. 15, the 29-year-old History of Sound star said he doesn’t feel comfortable discussing what led him to go public with the romance.
“I actually do have an answer, but everything to do with that is deeply precious to me and I don’t want to… I want to protect those things fundamentally,” Mescal told Rolling Stone.
A Rare Comment on Love Life
Mescal’s remarks offer one of the few glimpses into his relationship with Abrams, 26. The pair were first spotted together in June 2024 sharing a meal in London. Since then, they’ve been seen strolling through London and New York and enjoying casual dates.
Though they skipped the red carpet as a pair, Mescal brought Abrams as his date to the Los Angeles premiere of Gladiator II that November.
In July 2025, Abrams seemingly made the relationship Instagram official, posting a series of photos from her Glastonbury visit, including one of the couple lying on a blanket together.
Keeping the Private Life Private
Mescal has long been protective of his personal life. In a November 2024 cover-story interview with GQ, he explained that he draws strict boundaries to preserve his sanity.
“The speculation has been kind of mad for the last x amount of years,” he said. “I’m not comfortable inviting any access into that part of my life.”
He added, “How I am in my private life is so precious to me because I get very little of it, and it might be public interest, but it’s not public-obligated information.”
Despite the curiosity, Mescal remains firm in shielding his romance from public scrutiny, proving that even in the age of constant celebrity exposure, some moments are meant to stay private.
