The “One Piece” star turned a shirtless workout video into a full internet event.
Somebody check on the timeline, because Taz Skylar just turned a push-up challenge into cardio for everyone watching.
The actor, best known for playing Sanji in Netflix’s live-action “One Piece,” posted a shirtless outdoor workout video to Instagram with the caption, “Pushup challenge accepted @notfit.io.” In the clip, Skylar wears loose black shorts, white socks, a black cap and glasses while doing push-ups and core exercises in a public workout space. The post was shared May 24, according to Instagram’s listing.
Cute? Yes. Athletic? Very. Innocent? The internet has thoughts.
Taz Skylar’s Push-Up Video Got a Little Too Spicy
Here is where things get messy, sweaty and very online.
An earlier version of the push-up challenge appeared under the same caption before the clean version made the rounds. Instagram search results also show an earlier Reel by Skylar with “Pushup challenge accepted @notfit.io” dated May 10.
Screenshots from the first upload suggest Skylar’s loose shorts caused an apparent NSFW wardrobe slip during the challenge. We are not embedding those screenshots here, because consent is hot and boundaries matter. But yes, fans saw enough to spiral.
Then came the reupload.
The cleaner version starts with Skylar looking into the camera and giving a wink, which is either the most innocent coincidence in fitness content history or a tiny little “you saw nothing” moment for the ages.
Either way, the gay internet clocked in for duty.
The Wink Is Doing a Lot of Heavy Lifting
Let’s be clear: Skylar has not publicly said the earlier moment was intentional. So we are not calling it a confession.
We are, however, calling it extremely funny timing.
A deleted spicy upload. A cleaner reupload. A wink at the top. A shirtless actor with abs, tattoos and the energy of a man who knows exactly how powerful a camera angle can be.
That is not a Reel. That is a cultural artifact.
Who Is Taz Skylar?
Skylar is a British-Spanish actor, writer and producer who has become a global fan favorite thanks to Netflix’s live-action “One Piece.” He plays Sanji, the Straw Hat Pirates’ cook and former Baratie sous-chef and waiter. Netflix describes Sanji as a fighter who uses his legs as weapons, which explains why Skylar’s training content tends to look less “casual gym bro” and more “anime character escaped into real life.”
He stars alongside Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Zoro and Jacob Romero as Usopp. Netflix confirmed Skylar returned as Sanji for “One Piece” Season 2, with the Straw Hats heading deeper into the Grand Line.
And the adventure is not slowing down. Netflix has already confirmed the original Straw Hat crew, including Skylar as Sanji, will return for Season 3.
He Is More Than the Hot Sanji Actor
Yes, the abs are distracting. We are all doing our best.
But Skylar has range. His play “Warheads,” which he co-wrote and starred in, was nominated for a 2020 Olivier Award in the outstanding achievement in affiliate theatre category.
He also co-wrote “Gassed Up,” a British crime thriller that won the audience award for best feature at the BFI London Film Festival.
Skylar has also appeared in “Boiling Point” and the action thriller “Cleaner,” starring Daisy Ridley and Clive Owen.
So yes, he can act, write, fight, cook, train and apparently cause mass thirst with one pair of shorts.
A résumé!
The Push-Up Challenge Is Very On Brand
The post also ties into NotFit, Skylar’s fitness and food app. NotFit describes itself as “a fitness app for people who hate fitness apps,” with workouts designed for real life, not gym-bro nonsense. The app’s site says it was built with Skylar’s journey and focuses on movement, food and consistency over perfection.
That makes the video make sense. No polished studio. No sterile wellness influencer setup. Just Skylar outside, shirtless, moving his body and making the timeline collectively forget how to breathe.
Honestly, that is the best ad NotFit could ask for.
Fans Are Obsessed, Obviously
The reaction comes down to a perfect storm.
Skylar already has the Sanji fandom. He already has the action-star body. He already has the charming, chaotic, slightly dangerous vibe. Add a shirtless push-up challenge, an apparent wardrobe malfunction, a deleted first version and a wink at the top of the reupload?
Baby, that is not content. That is gay breaking news.
The current video is clean, but the lore is not. And that is exactly why people keep watching.
