Ariana Grande is putting her philanthropy front and center.
The superstar’s newly launched Brighter Days Ahead Foundation has announced Backline as one of the first recipients of its Heal & Dream Fund, expanding access to mental health care and community support while continuing Grande’s long-standing commitment to LGBTQ+ advocacy.
The partnership builds on months of collaboration between the foundation and Backline, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting music industry professionals and their families with mental health resources. Together, they’ve already provided wellness support on Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour, helped launch a dedicated crisis hotline for the music industry, and expanded therapy grants for touring crews.
A Foundation Focused on Community Care
Grande officially unveiled the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation on June 12 with a mission centered on supporting vulnerable communities through four dedicated funding initiatives. At launch, the foundation prioritized protecting trans and LGBTQ+ rights, expanding access to mental health care, and responding to communities during times of crisis.
“I am beyond excited to finally announce the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation,” Grande said in a statement.
“Our mission is to support, protect, and provide resources for our vulnerable friends in need. Through four different funds, we will be supporting handfuls of incredible organizations that provide the safe space and care that is desperately needed by so many right now. It has been my privilege to be able to support these causes on my own over the years, and I’m grateful to now be able to expand that reach and amplify the life-saving work that these organizations do through the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation.”
The Heal & Dream Fund specifically focuses on expanding access to mental health services and strengthening community support systems. Backline is among the first organizations selected to receive funding through the initiative.
Supporting The People Behind The Music
While fans experience the excitement of sold-out concerts, thousands of crew members work behind the scenes to make every performance happen. Backline’s work is designed to ensure those individuals have access to mental health care before, during, and after life on the road.
According to Backline co-founder and Executive Director Hilary Gleason, the support from Grande’s foundation allows the nonprofit to continue building sustainable resources for an industry that often faces unique mental health challenges.
“Backline delivers essential mental health and wellness resources to music industry professionals, ensuring the people behind the music receive the compassionate, affordable care they deserve,” Gleason said. “Through Brighter Days Ahead Foundation’s partnership, we’re able to provide for the music industry’s needs in a more sustainable way, including B-LINE, a 24/7 mental health and crisis support line created exclusively for the music industry, and through direct tour support.”
During Grande’s sold-out run at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum, Backline distributed 200 hand-packed wellness bags to crew members working behind the scenes. The totes included products aimed at encouraging self-care and helping reduce stress during long stretches on tour.
In addition to the wellness kits, crew members gained access to therapy grants through Music’s Mental Health Fund, made possible with support from the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation.
A Growing Partnership
Although the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation officially launched this summer, its work with Backline began well before the public announcement.
The foundation was an early financial supporter of B-LINE, Backline’s 24/7 mental health and crisis support line created specifically for music industry professionals and their families. Since launching, more than 400 people have already reached out through the service, underscoring the growing need for accessible mental health resources within the entertainment industry.
“During a run of sold out shows,” Gleason added, “Backline was there for Ariana’s band and crew, and our round-the-clock services here for all artists, their crews and their families as we strive for a safer and healthier music industry.”
The latest grant will help sustain those efforts while allowing Backline to continue offering case management, therapy grants, wellness programming, and direct support for touring professionals.
Why It Matters
Grande has long used her platform to champion LGBTQ+ communities and mental health awareness, but the Brighter Days Ahead Foundation marks a significant expansion of that work. Rather than focusing solely on one-time donations, the foundation is investing in organizations already providing critical services and helping them grow.
