Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have separated after nearly two decades of marriage, PEOPLE confirmed Monday. The actress and country star tied the knot in June 2006, becoming one of Hollywood’s most visible couples as they supported each other’s careers through red carpets, award shows, and world tours.

They share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Kidman also has two adopted children, Isabella and Connor, from her marriage to Tom Cruise.

A Public Love Story

Throughout their relationship, the couple often shared glimpses of their affection online. This past June, Kidman marked their wedding anniversary with a black-and-white Instagram photo of herself embracing Urban, captioned, “Happy Anniversary Baby.” Urban last posted with Kidman in May, when the two attended the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, where he received the ACM Triple Crown honor.

Still, TMZ reported that the pair have been living separately since the start of summer, despite their outward show of unity. Neither has commented publicly on the reasons for the separation.

Busy Careers Pulling Them Apart

Kidman, who recently wrapped filming the long-awaited Practical Magic sequel alongside Sandra Bullock, has spent much of the past year working overseas. Urban, meanwhile, has been on the road with his High and Alive World Tour, launched in May in support of his 11th studio album, High. His tour continues this fall with dates across the U.S., including an October stop in Pennsylvania.

Their demanding schedules may have contributed to the split, keeping the pair on opposite sides of the Atlantic for much of the summer.

Hollywood Royalty

Kidman and Urban’s marriage often made headlines, not only for its longevity in an industry known for fleeting relationships, but also for the couple’s public displays of support. Kidman frequently appeared at Urban’s concerts and award shows, while he stood by her side at film premieres and industry honors.

Both stars boast decorated careers. Kidman won an Oscar for The Hours and Emmys for Big Little Lies, and has starred in films such as Moulin Rouge!, Lioness, Rabbit Hole, and last year’s Babygirl. Urban, a four-time Grammy winner, is known for hits like “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” “Somebody Like You,” and “You’ll Think of Me.”

The End of an Era

While the news of their separation has shaken fans, those close to the couple suggest it wasn’t entirely unexpected. For nearly two decades, Kidman and Urban represented a rare example of longevity in Hollywood marriages. Now, as they step into separate futures, they leave behind a love story that was once considered one of the industry’s strongest.
