J.K. Rowling Says She Prefers Prison Over Inclusive Pronouns

We are deeply saddened to report that J.K. Rowling is being a big TERF online again.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Harry Potter author shared a photo that had the words “repeat after us: trans women are women” projected on a wall. She simply captioned it, “No.”

Given Rowling’s prior outspoken stance against transgender women, this tweet comes as no surprise. In former anti-trans posts, she said, “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives.”

However, her hateful anti-trans rhetoric did not stop there. One user replied to her initial tweet: “Vote Labour, get a two year stretch.” The comment appeared to allude to Labour politician Anneliese Dodds’ recent statement that a Labour Party-led government would impose stricter penalties for anti-LGBTQ+ hate crimes.

Rowling replied she would “happily do two years [in prison] if the alternative is compelled speech and forced denial of the reality and importance of sex.”

“Bring on the court case, I say,” she added. “It’ll be more fun than I’ve ever had on a red carpet.”

If we could suggest an alternative, just don’t commit hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community. Then, no one has to go to jail.

Stars Who Have Spoken Out Against Rowling

The fantasy writer first stirred backlash in 2020 when she shared a series of transphobic comments on Twitter. Since then, Rowling has continued to use her platform to spread anti-trans misinformation, causing many fans to dissociate from the author or the franchise entirely.

Following Rowling’s actions, actor Daniel Radcliffe apologized for the “pain these comments have caused you” and declared “transgender women are women.”

“I realize that certain press outlets will probably want to paint this as in-fighting between J.K. Rowling and myself, but that is really not what this is about, nor is it what’s important right now,” Radcliffe wrote in his article published on The Trevor Project.

“Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I… It’s clear that we need to do more to support transgender and nonbinary people, not invalidate their identities, and not cause further harm.”

Fellow co-stars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have also made statements in response to Rowling. However, the author continues to spread her hateful comments online and stir up backlash.

Colman Domingo Organizes March on Washington in New ‘Rustin’ Trailer

Colman Domingo is bringing an out civil rights activist to life in Netflix’s latest biographical drama, Rustin.

The Emmy Award-winning actor is Bayard Rustin, the architect of 1963’s momentous March on Washington and one of the most incredible activists and organizers the world has ever known. The march united a quarter million people in a peaceful rally. It is also well-known for hosting Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Rustin Trailer Shines Light on the Forgotten

In the new trailer, Rustin 9Domingo) rallies young activists of all races with his march plans and infectious hope, yet faces resistance from those skeptical of his ambitious vision, like activist Roy Wilkins (Chris Rock). “Every person at this table will be in the line of fire because of him,” Wilkins says in the clip.

Rustin is seen as an unyielding force, standing firm in the face of opposition despite being an openly gay man in the ’60s.

“I can’t surrender my differences, the world won’t let me.”

Luckily, Rustin has allies on his side.

“Alongside giants like the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.Adam Clayton Powell Jr., and Ella Baker, Bayard Rustin dared to imagine a different world and inspired a movement in a march toward freedom,” reads the official synopsis. “He challenged authority and never apologized for who he was, what he believed, or who he desired. And he did not back down. He made history, and in turn, he was forgotten.”

The Road to Rustin

In a recent interview with the New York Times, director George C. Wolfe spoke about the importance of Bayard’s story. “Rustin, who was, in Wolfe’s estimation ‘about as out as a Black man could be in 1960s America,’ was largely pushed aside by civil rights leaders who feared that his sexuality would bring shame on the movement,” wrote Jenny Comita. “‘Here was this monumental human being who changed history, and then history forgot him,’ says Wolfe, himself a gay man, who has lived in New York City since 1979. Telling stories like Rustin’s, he says, is ‘a means to share, to inform, to challenge, to confront the world.’”

Netflix

Academy Award winner Bruce Cohen, along with Higher Ground’s Tonia Davis and George C. Wolfe, bring together an all-star ensemble for Rustin, including Glynn Turman, Aml Ameen, Gus Halper, CCH Pounder, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Johnny Ramey, Michael Potts, Jeffrey Wright, and Audra McDonald.

Rustin has debuted at Telluride and TIFF and won the award for audience awards at Heartland and the Mill Valley Film Festival (MVFF).

Rustin will premiere in select theaters on November 3 and will begin streaming on Netflix on November 17.

“We are committed to altering the trajectory of this country towards freedom. That’s what’s on the line. Nothing less.”

Brian J. Smith from ‘Sense8’ and Matt Consalvo Are Officially Dating!

Hot new couple alert!

Sense8 hottie Brian J. Smith confirmed a new romance with a fellow actor through a series of stories on his Instagram account.

Smith, who’s also known for his roles in The Matrix Resurrections, and Stargate Universe, let his followers in on a recent surgery he underwent on his leg. He said he could not have done it without “the love of my life – @mattconsalvo.”

Consalvo is also an actor and has starred in Blue BloodsSpecial Ops: Lioness, and Adam & the Water. While we have no idea how or when these two love birds met and fell for each other, we are happy to swoon over these photos Smith shared (reposted by @brianjsmithbrasil).

The last photo shows the two actors smiling from the hospital, while the first image shows them smiling while out and about.

Brian J. Smith Comes Out as Gay

Smith came out as gay after his LGBTQ-inclusive series Sense8 had already come to a close. In 2019, he spoke with Attitude Magazine all about being bullied as a kid, seeking solace in acting, and coming out to his parents at 30.

“I was terrified. At school, I really couldn’t fit in anywhere. I wasn’t a jock or a nerd,” he said. “Forget about any LGBTQ union or groups. There was absolutely nothing. I was completely alone.”

The 42-year-old actor said he felt like he always had to watch his actions in public. “I could never be who I was. I was constantly having to check myself and make sure I wasn’t looking at someone too long or making someone feel uncomfortable.” He continued, “I had to be very, very careful about telling people the truth about myself.”

When he did come out, he was lucky to have two supportive parents by his side.

“I was surprised. When I came out to my parents they were wonderful. They said they were just waiting for me to say something. They were a lot more advanced than I gave them credit for,” says Smith. “I think that’s when I became OK with it, too. Just in terms of being, ‘Oh that’s the world, it’s not as dangerous as I thought it was.’”

We’re so happy Brian and Matt are sharing their love with the world!

Prince Henry Tells a Campfire Fairytale in New ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ Deleted Scene

Attention Red, White & Royal Blue fans: We have three minutes and 23 seconds of unseen footage for your viewing pleasure!

“Once upon a time…”

That’s how Prince Henry starts his fairytale in a newly released RWRB clip from Prime Video and fans are already torn up about it. Eagle-eyed viewers knew a campfire scene existed from the short flashback scenes in the movie, so now everyone can at least see what went down on that log.

In the video, titled “Prince Henry and Alex’s Fireside Chat,” Alex (Taylor Zakhar Perez) is lounging on a tree trunk by a campfire and asks his lover Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) a question.

“When you told me on our first night together that you couldn’t let anyone fall in love with you. Did you really mean that?” What he really means to say is, “I’m already in love with you. Sorry about it.”

Prince Henry Tells a Story

In response, Henry breaks into a fantastic story about a prince who trades security for his freedom.

“There had never been a prince quite like him. He was born with his heart on the outside of his body,” Henry says. He described how the other noble children lived without fear, whereas this prince “felt everything acutely.”

So, his grandfather gave him a suit of armor to protect his heart. But what the prince did not realize at the time was that he “paid for his safety was his freedom.”

“Until he met this devastatingly handsome young peasant boy – who was from this faraway land and said the most ghastly things to him – made him feel truly alive for the first time in his life,” Henry says while looking deep into Alex’s eyes.

“And because of this handsome peasant boy, the prince’s armor began to fall away. Piece by piece. Until all that was left was the piece of armor protecting his heart. Peasant boy pulled and pulled at this last piece of armor, but the prince held it firmly in place. With every tug, the boy made a space between the prince’s armor and his heart. And in that space, the prince’s heart could beat freely once again.”

It’s a really beautiful scene, and we can see why fans are upset they removed it from the final cut. But most users are just happy it now exists online.

‘Willow’ Actor Calls Out Disney for Removing Sapphic Series

Actor Warwick Davis recently expressed his frustration online over Disney Plus canceling and removing the Willow series from the platform.

After one season, Disney pulled the plug on Willow, a fantasy adventure series that is a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name. Much to our delight, the continuation had a beautiful sapphic romance at the helm between a princess (Ruby Cruz) and a knight (Erin Kellyman).

Adding insult to injury, Disney unceremoniously wiped all eight episodes from their streaming service. Davis, who played the sorcerer Willow in both the series and the original movie, recently spoke out against Disney’s decision in a post shared on X.

“I meet lovely people on a daily basis who are fans of #Willow, who are the reason the @DisneyPlus Series was made,” he wrote. “Please tell me @WaltDisneyCo, what do I say to these subscribers when they ask why they can’t watch the series any more?”

Unfortunately, this is not the first female-led queer show to be pulled from a streamer. It’s a fate many shows face these days. Remember First Kill, Atypical, and The L Word: Generation Q?

Willow Showrunner Held Onto Hope

At its cancellation, Willow showrunner Jonathan Kasdan held onto some hope for the series. He explained that they had already written and developed the show. The “cancellation” is more about releasing the cast from their contracts. In the world of streaming, this didn’t necessarily spell disaster, unlike traditional network TV.

However, Disney erased the show, which in turn erased its chances of gaining a bigger audience.

“Can’t believe it’s just simply not available to view.. like it never existed,” one user commented.

“I didn’t know you couldn’t watch the series anymore – but I’ll add my voice to the chorus saying the new #Willow was great – it was fun and exciting and I loved every minute!” another added.

#Embarassing is right. Here’s to hoping that major streamers will put a halt to this trend. The world is in need of more sapphic representation!

Jonathan Groff Came Out to His Brother After Visiting Nude Statue

“I started crying and wondered, What is it about this naked man that makes me so emotional?”

Broadway star Jonathan Groff opened up about why he came out to his brother after an emotional visit to the Accademia Gallery in Florence. Home to numerous Michelangelo sculptures, Groff took in the beauty of the exhibit during a solo trip to Italy in 2008. He told Conde Nast Traveler that seeing the infamous nude statue of David literally brought tears to his eyes.

“Afterward, I sat in a piazza, journaling, thinking about how nobody here knew or cared about me, and I decided to come out to my brother – who is also named David – the next day.”

The brothers were planning to meet in Rome to get drinks and catch up. At this time, Groff had only come out to one person, his roommate and boyfriend .

“I knew that if I didn’t tell him right then, I would never do it,” Groff continued. “My hands were shaking; my voice was hoarse from talking, because I hadn’t spoken to anyone in seven days.

“But David also seemed nervous. He said, ‘Jonathan, there’s something I need to talk to you about.’ He told me all about this girl that he was in love with, who is now his wife. It was like he was coming out to me, because we’d never talked about relationships or sex or love in our entire lives as brothers.

“He teed it up perfectly, and once he gave me all of the details, he said, ‘This is the first time I’ve ever felt this, and I’m wondering, What about you?’ And I shared everything with him. We just showed all of ourselves to each other. It never could have happened anywhere else.”

Who is Jonathan Groff
