The company’s stance on DEI initiatives has been a major part of its public identity, especially since the 2020 murder of George Floyd, which occurred in Minneapolis, where Target is headquartered. The company has long positioned itself as a progressive brand, supporting various social justice causes, including LGBTQ+ rights.

In 2014, Target publicly supported the legalization of gay marriage before it became law nationwide. Additionally, it became one of the first major retailers to allow transgender employees and customers to use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity. In recent years, Target has also been known for its extensive Pride merchandise collections.

However, the company faced significant backlash over its Pride merchandise in 2023, and it subsequently scaled back its 2024 Pride collection in response. Among the critics are Anne and Lucy Dayton, the daughters of one of Target’s co-founders. The announcement came this morning, when the general manager posted a sign reading: “Steam Room is Permanently Closed,” directing members to the front desk for further inquiries.

The gym, located in the city of Los Angeles, first attracted attention in late January when it posted a sign stating that the steam room was temporarily closed due to “inappropriate conduct” and that its reopening would be reviewed the week of January 27. By January 31, the sign was updated, noting that no reopening date had been set.

The steam room reopened on February 3 after being closed for nearly two weeks. However, the decision to resume service followed pressure from members who threatened to cancel their memberships and demanded discounts, claiming the steam room was a key feature that led them to join the gym.

“We do not tolerate inappropriate behavior in our facility, and we will enforce our policy,” stated a sign posted at the gym warning that anyone caught engaging in sexual activity would face immediate membership termination.

Sean Renzetti, the manager of Crunch West Hollywood, did not provide a formal statement, but he addressed the issue on social media, saying, “If you are participating in sexual activity in our public space, which is illegal, I will terminate your membership immediately. I am gay, so let’s not make it OK because it’s a ‘gay thing.’”

The closure has sparked criticism from members, particularly those who viewed the steam room as an essential part of their gym experience. Jason Thompson, the founder of a health retreat called Authenticity, expressed concerns over a perceived double standard, pointing out that similar inappropriate behavior occurs in the men’s shower area but has not been treated the same way.

Thompson said gym management had responded by explaining that the showers were required for hygiene purposes and were a necessary facility for members. He also noted that the closure impacted the value of his membership, as he had specifically joined the gym for access to the steam room, which he regularly used after yoga, stretching, and cardio.

“I signed up for this gym because of their steam room and have not been able to use it for a week. I’m now not getting what I paid for,” Thompson said.

This isn’t the first time Crunch Fitness West Hollywood has addressed inappropriate behavior in its steam room. In January 2022, the gym posted a similar warning in the men’s locker room, humorously telling members to choose “literally anywhere else” for sexual activity.

As of the time of publication, Crunch Fitness’ corporate office has not responded to requests for comment on the closure or its policies.

The report claims that the database is being designed to register and monitor LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those associated with the “international LGBT movement,” which was officially labeled as “extremist” by Russian authorities in 2023. Sources told Meduza that the planned database would be a “large-scale” system aimed at collecting and storing personal data on members of the LGBTQ+ community.

This development follows a recent surge in the enforcement of Russia’s anti-propaganda laws targeting LGBTQ+ people. In the past few months, the government has escalated its crackdown on LGBTQ+ rights, resulting in various incidents where individuals and groups have faced legal repercussions. Notably, bar staff and venue owners have been jailed, and over 50 club-goers were detained during one event. The government has also forced platforms like Duolingo to remove inclusive content, and even children’s media like My Little Pony has been reclassified as 18+ due to its perceived promotion of LGBTQ+ themes.

Meduza’s sources also indicated that police records have been maintained since the Russian Supreme Court ruled in favor of treating LGBTQ+ advocacy as extremist. Dmitry Chukreev, a member of the ruling United Russia party, confirmed that police records are being kept on members of the LGBTQ+ community. “Everyone is being recorded and put on record,” he said.

In addition to the LGBTQ+ database, Russian officials are reportedly considering the creation of a public registry for sex workers, which would allow individuals to “check” others, such as friends or potential partners. The registry would also include administrative violations, such as fines for “gay propaganda,” which has been criminalized under recent laws.

The wave of rollbacks has left many queer individuals, Black professionals, and people of color questioning their job security and opportunities. Recent LinkedIn studies show that 69% of LGBTQIA+ professionals feel limited by the current political and economic climate, with one in five fearing job instability if they change positions. The data also reveals that 70% of LGBTQ+ professionals and 64% of Black professionals plan to seek new jobs in 2025, but over half say the job market has become significantly more difficult in the past year.

Networking remains a key strategy for overcoming these challenges. LinkedIn research indicates that professionals are four times more likely to secure a job at a company where they have an existing connection. However, nearly 45% of Black professionals and 50% of LGBTQ+ professionals wish they had better tools to assess how their skills match potential roles.

With companies scaling back DEI programs, marginalized professionals are left to navigate these difficulties on their own. Sitting down with Vanity Fair for the lie detector test, the musician hinted that there may be a potential follow up music video with the “Crazy in Love” songstress. When asked directly during the interview if it also involved queen herself, Gaga played coy with a simple ‘maybe.’

However, when prompted on when this follow up may come up, she stated simply ‘I don’t know” all while being truthful.

While celebrating the premiere of Gaga: The Chromatica Ball in Los Angeles in May of 2024, Lady Gaga was asked if she would consider creating a sequel to her iconic 2009 duet with Beyoncé, “Telephone,” after fans widely expressed their desire for a follow-up.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 38-year-old singer responded, “Whenever Beyoncé calls, I’d like to pick up the phone.” The comment has reignited speculation about the possibility of a sequel to the collaboration, which debuted on Gaga’s The Fame Monster album.

The song, which earned widespread acclaim, won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Collaboration and was nominated for a Grammy. Since its release, “Telephone” has remained a fan favorite, and earlier this year, rumors about a possible sequel began circulating when Beyoncé teased a new project. Five Arrested in Death of Transgender Man in New York; Investigation Ongoing

New York State Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the disappearance and death of a 24-year-old transgender man from Minnesota, authorities said. The victim, identified as Sam Nordquist, was reported missing earlier this week.

The investigation began Sunday after police received a welfare check request from Nordquist’s family. Officials confirmed Thursday that human remains believed to be those of Nordquist were discovered in a field in Yates County, New York, approximately 50 miles south of Rochester.

The case is being treated as a homicide, with evidence suggesting Nordquist was the victim of a criminal act, according to Lynnea Crane, a spokesperson for the New York State Police. During a press conference on Friday, Crane said that authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the case could be a hate crime.

“Our investigation has revealed a deeply disturbing pattern of abuse that ultimately resulted in Sam’s tragic death,” said Capt. Kelly Swift of the New York State Police. Swift, who has served in law enforcement for over two decades, described the crime as “one of the most horrific” she had ever encountered.

Investigators indicated that Nordquist endured prolonged physical and psychological abuse at the hands of multiple individuals, though specific details have not been released due to the ongoing investigation.

Authorities learned that Nordquist had been staying at Patty’s Lodge in Hopewell, New York, with one of the suspects. According to police, evidence suggests that Nordquist was subjected to continuous physical abuse between December 2024 and February 2025.

The five suspects arrested in connection with the case are identified as Precious Arzuaga, 38; Jennifer A. Quijano, 30; Kyle Sage, 33; Patrick A. Goodwin, 30; and Emily Motyka, 19. All have been charged with second-degree murder with depraved indifference. The suspects were arraigned and remanded to the Ontario County Jail on Friday.

Ontario County District Attorney James Ritts confirmed that the suspects are being held without bail. He also stated that a preliminary hearing is scheduled, and he anticipates grand jury action in the near future.

The relationship between the suspects and Nordquist is still under investigation. Police indicated that Nordquist’s body was transported to Yates County in an attempt to conceal the crime. The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Nordquist, originally from Minnesota, had last been in contact with his family at the end of January. He had traveled to New York in September 2024 and was last seen in early February. Investigators executed multiple search warrants at Patty’s Lodge during the investigation.

Police described the circumstances surrounding Nordquist’s death as “beyond depraved,” with Ritts calling it the worst homicide investigation his office has ever handled. “No human being should have to endure what Sam endured,” he said during a press conference on Friday.

Several members of the Rochester City Council expressed their condolences to Nordquist’s family and affirmed their commitment to supporting the transgender and LGBTQIA+ community. “Our Trans and LGBTQIA+ residents are, and have always been, integral to the fabric of our communities,” the council members stated. “We reaffirm our commitment to protecting Trans rights, ensuring safety for all, and wish to make clear that you belong—fully, openly, and without fear.”

In response to the article, a BBC spokesperson said: “This story is incorrect, Doctor Who has not been shelved. “I wouldn’t be the only Black lead that’s taken over a sci-fi franchise that would have received that sort of treatment,” Gatwa told Vanity Fair in November 2024. “Unfortunately, those are voices that exist in sci-fi fandoms – but they’re not the only voices.”

Gatwa further described how Doctor Who fans have made him feel like part of a “big nerd family” since stepping into the role. He highlighted how, even during difficult circumstances—such as shooting in extreme weather conditions—there are always dedicated fans waiting outside the studio.

“I just remember feeling a lot of warmth and love, being embraced into a big nerd family. When we’re shooting Doctor Who, there are fans outside the studio or on location every single time, be it at 4am, be it minus-12 degrees,” he said.

The White Lotus is back with a shocking season three that has many wondering how much of a gay storyline viewers will be getting this time around.

Looking at the cast for this new installation for the franchise on HBO, cast members Carrie Coon and Aimee Lou Wood grace the screens alongside others like Natasha Rothwell as Belinda back for another stay at the infamous resort chain.

As far as other members of the cast, many are focused in on none other than Saxon played by Patrick Schwarzenegger and Lochlan played by Sam Nivola.

The two brothers, one of the many dysfunctional groups staying at the hotel, are rich, with the older one with a bit of an arrogant attitude.

Trying to impress his younger brother Lochlan by showing him how to flirt to even teaching him how to embrace his manhood, viewers get a glimpse on how far this character is willing to go to assert his dominance.

While initially going to share a room with his sister, Saxon declares that they should instead share a room together as the boys of the family.

Later in the episode while the two are getting ready for bed in their room, Saxon can be seen shirtless proclaiming to his brother on how to get what he wants in life. From there after a brief pause, Saxon grabs a tablet and ponders on how he will be jerking off in the room next to his younger brother.

After the awkward and long, dramatic pause while the two look at each other, fans sensed the sexual tension between the two brothers.

Fans are in shock over the sexual tension in the scene and people are now assuming that there will be an incest storyline between Saxon and Lochlan. One person tweeted: “Please tell me there’s not an incest storyline.” Another wrote: “what the hell is happening with these brothers on the white lotus.”

However, others praised the TV show for exploring uncomfortable themes. A fan tweeted: “White Lotus season 3 starting with gay incest, bitter middle aged white women and British people oh I’m LIVING.”

Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays Saxon, has teased that things get even more “uncomfortable” and Sam Nivola, who plays Lochlan, has confirmed that he has a nude scene.

Speaking at The White Lotus press conference, Patrick said: “There are some uncomfortable conversations between us in the bed that are a little weird to show in front of your family. Episodes 5 and 6, there will be some times that I take some bathroom breaks from the family, or maybe I won’t watch that episode.”

Meanwhile, Sam spoke about his first nude scene and on screen kiss. He said: “Of course, that comes along with a lot of fear and anxiety [but] there’s a few people that I would trust more with footage of my buttocks [than creator Mike White]. He made us feel so comfortable.”

It’s not clear how far the series will be pushing not only the gay agenda this season, but we will see how family dynamics play out.
