Lola Young is stepping away from the stage indefinitely. The British singer, who identifies as bisexual, announced the decision on Instagram after a frightening incident at the All Things Go festival in New York, where she collapsed mid-performance.

According to fan-shot videos, Young was in the middle of performing her track “Conceited” when she appeared to warn her team that she was about to faint, before collapsing on stage. The show quickly came to a halt, and fellow performer, and close friend, Remi Wolf stepped in to reassure the crowd that Young was backstage and doing okay.

Young later shared an update, saying “I am doing OK now. Thank you for all of your support, Lola xxx.”

Immediately following the incident, Young cancelled her performance in Washington DC on the 28th, before officially taking a step back from performing.

“It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future,” she told her followers. “Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know.”

The British performer behind the chart-topping hit “Messy” was set to bring her sound across North America this year, kicking things off in Toronto and wrapping up in Los Angeles. She was also booked for several major music festivals along the way. In her update, she let everyone know they will get a full refund to her shows.

“I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger.”

Before the festival in New York, Young cancelled a show in New Jersey, telling the crowd she had a “tricky couple of days.”

“Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue,” she said. “But you know what? Today I woke up and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool. Sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”

We’re sending all the love to Young!

Young’s latest project, I’m Only Fking Myself, dropped on September 19, 2025, marking her boldest release yet. The album was preceded by a trio of singles: “One Thing” in May, “Not Like That Anymore” in June, and “Dealer” in July, that showcased her versatility, from biting pop hooks to raw, confessional ballads. Sir Elton John even called “Dealer” a surefire chart-topper, underscoring the industry buzz surrounding Young’s music.
