Missi Pyle is single, ready to mingle, and open to finding love regardless of gender.
The actor shared the playful revelation during the latest episode of Shut Up Evan, the Netflix video podcast hosted by writer and pop culture commentator Evan Ross Katz. Pyle joined queer singer-songwriter King Princess and two-time Emmy-nominated television producer and pop culture expert Norman Baker for an installment of the show’s recurring The Group Chat format.
The trio discussed everything from influencer culture to former President Barack Obama’s annual lists, but the conversation eventually turned toward Pyle’s dating life.
“I’m single, so I’m ready to get it on,” Pyle said.
Pyle admitted she still has not figured out how to meet potential partners away from her phone.
“I don’t know how to really meet people, other than on an app,” she explained.
Pyle said she does not think of herself as particularly famous, but her public profile can still make dating difficult. Even Raya, the exclusive dating app popular among celebrities and other high-profile users, has not made finding a match any easier.
Luckily, Katz and King Princess were ready to help. The two offered to take Pyle to Brooklyn and find her someone, prompting King Princess to ask one important follow-up question.
“Are you cool with whatever gender?” the musician asked.
“Yeah, I am,” Pyle replied.
“You heard it here first, bisexual diva,” King Princess declared.
Pyle did not personally assign a label to her sexuality during the exchange, but she made it clear that gender would not limit whom she might consider dating.

Pyle has spent decades as one of Hollywood’s most recognizable character actors, often delivering memorable comedic performances in films including Galaxy Quest, Josie and the Pussycats, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song. She has also appeared in darker dramas such as Gone Girl and Captain Fantastic, and played Mrs. Beauregarde in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. More recently, Pyle played Denise in the television series Sterling Point, appeared in the film Bad Counselors and made a cameo in Adam Shankman’s Stop! That! Train!.
King Princess, whose real name is Mikaela Straus, is a Brooklyn-born queer musician known for songs including “1950” and “Talia.” The singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist has become a prominent voice in contemporary queer pop.

Katz’s LGBTQ+ and pop culture podcast Shut Up Evan expanded into a twice-weekly Netflix video series in May. Episodes alternate between intimate celebrity interviews and The Group Chat, which brings together rotating guests to discuss entertainment, internet culture and their latest obsessions.
