Luke Evans is slipping into something fabulous for his Broadway debut. The Welsh actor and singer will headline Roundabout Theatre Company’s upcoming revival of The Rocky Horror Show, taking on the role of the iconic Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
From Gaston to Glam
Directed by Sam Pinkleton, best known for his work on Oh, Mary!, the revival will bring the cult classic musical back to life at Studio 54. Previews begin March 26, 2026, ahead of an April 23 opening night.
Evans, who wowed audiences as Gaston in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, is no stranger to theatrical flair. Before his Hollywood rise, he performed on London’s West End in Rent and Avenue Q. Now, he’s trading tavern brawls and puppets for corsets and high heels.

A “Freaky” Honor
Pinkleton called working with Evans an “honor of a lifetime” and promised a production that embraces the original’s wild spirit.
“I’m giddy to crack this untamable classic open with the razor-sharp Luke Evans at the center,” Pinkleton said in a statement. “We hope to do at Studio 54 what The Rocky Horror Show has done for people around the world for decades, open a dimension to another possible reality.”
The director added that the show is a “giant-hearted act of love” and a celebration of “tender weirdos with mascara streaming down their faces.”
A Message from the Creator
The Rocky Horror Show first premiered in 1973, spawning the beloved film The Rocky Horror Picture Show and a decades-long midnight movie tradition. Its creator, Richard O’Brien, expressed excitement over the new production.
“It is music to my ears to hear that a cast of very fine actors is on its way to NYC,” O’Brien said. “Break out the fishnets and let’s have a party.”
What to Expect
The limited-run production will feature choreography by Ani Taj, music direction by Kris Kukul, costume design by David I. Reynoso, and set design by dots. The show is scheduled to run through June 21, 2026.
Casting beyond Evans has yet to be announced, but expectations are already sky-high for the revival. Between Pinkleton’s eccentric direction and Evans’ powerhouse presence, Broadway audiences are in for a delightfully twisted ride through time, space, and campy chaos.
Tickets and additional details for The Rocky Horror Show revival are available through the Roundabout Theatre Company website.
