Tom Ford is stepping back into filmmaking for the first time in nearly a decade, and he’s bringing a powerhouse cast with him. Deadline confirmed that Ford will write, direct, and produce a new adaptation of Anne Rice’s Cry to Heaven — and yes, Lux Pascal, Hunter Schafer, and Adele are all officially part of the ensemble.

A Sensual, Operatic Anne Rice Story

Set in 18th-century Italy, the novel follows two men: a Venetian nobleman and a young castrati singer, whose lives collide in the world of opera. The story is filled with identity, desire, betrayal, and the search for personal freedom.

It’s rich, dramatic material, and it fits perfectly into Ford’s long-standing interest in beauty, control, and the emotional lives of outsiders.

A Massive Ensemble — With Big Queer Energy

Ford has assembled one of his largest casts yet. According to Deadline, the film stars:

Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Adele, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Thandiwe Newton, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, Hauk Hannemann, and Lux Pascal.

In a shared Instagram post, Pascal wrote how meaningful this role and moment are to her.

“Little me watching the trailer for Tom Ford’s first film “A single man” and then buying my own ticket to go see it is in total disbelief… Now a part of this captivating Vision.”

Her big brother Pedro chimed in by sharing three red hearts.

Honestly, seeing Schafer and Pascal in the same project, alongside Adele’s movie debut, is a standout moment.

Ford’s First Film Since Nocturnal Animals

Ford hasn’t directed since Nocturnal Animals in 2016, and he’s returning in full control. He wrote the screenplay, will produce through his Fade to Black company, and is self-financing the project to shoot it exactly the way he wants.

Filming begins in London and Rome in mid-January, with an anticipated late-autumn 2026 release.
