Drag superstar Monet X Change brought her signature humor and heart to MISTR’s inaugural National PrEP Day Blue Carpet Countdown at The Abbey on October 9, 2025. The event, a prelude to the first-ever National PrEP Day, celebrated free, stigma-free HIV prevention while featuring iconic LGBTQ talent and celebrities.

Monet, sparkling in personality and wit, was eager to chat about life on and off the stage, sharing personal insights that were as playful as they were real.

Engagement Life, Monet Style

When asked about being engaged, Monet didn’t hold back.

“Being engaged means you start to organize sex,” she quipped. “I love that. I’m 35. Sometimes you have to schedule sex. We’re a little afraid to admit it, but it’s good, it’s fine, and it’s glorious.”

She confessed her surprise at her own happiness, noting, “I didn’t think I’d ever want to be engaged, but now that we’re here, I love my partner… oh God, I have to say fiancé now. I’m one of those gays that sets fiancé,” she joked.

And she’s owning it. “I love being on this side of things. I do love it a lot,” Monet said, laughing.

Adventures Across the Globe

Monet has been globe-trotting for reality TV, from Survivor to Traitors, and teased that her next project is just as thrilling.

“Doing that show was one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t wait for the world to see it,” she said. “I’m not going to say it’s like filming a show… Traitors is an experience, and the world will get into it.”

She hinted at surprises without giving too much away: “During the season, people go home. Those are facts. Facts. Facts. Pleasure. Good,” she laughed, leaving fans gagging for more.

Celebrating Sexual Health With MISTR

The Blue Carpet event was part of MISTR’s campaign to launch National PrEP Day on October 10, highlighting accessible HIV prevention for LGBTQ+ men and women of color.

Tristan Schukraft, Founder and CEO of MISTR, emphasized the importance of the day: “We already have the tools to end HIV: the science, the medication, and the technology. What’s missing is the will, the access, and the equity. National PrEP Day is about making HIV prevention visible, stigma-free, and accessible to everyone.”

PrEP, a daily pill or twice-yearly injection, reduces the risk of HIV by up to 99%, yet only one in four eligible Americans are currently using it. Through MISTR and its companion brand SISTR, PrEP is available at no cost, covering labs, consultations, prescriptions, and shipping—even for those without insurance.
