After nearly three decades, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are officially returning as Sally and Gillian Owens in the first full trailer for Practical Magic 2, and somehow it looks darker, more whimsical, and more magical than ever before.

The beloved witches may be older, but their powers are fully on display this time around, and it looks like they’ve got some serious witchcraft butt to kick.

Set to Lana Del Rey’s haunting cover of “Season of the Witch,” the trailer immediately casts a spell over viewers, then reminds us exactly why audiences have remained obsessed with the Owens family for nearly 30 years.

The sequel reunites Bullock and Kidman with returning stars Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest as the iconic Aunt Franny and Aunt Jet, alongside a new generation of Owens women played by Joey King and Maisie Williams.

Also joining the magical world are Lee Pace and Xolo Maridueña, with Pace already stealing scenes in the trailer as a mysterious man who happens to be fully naked and under a spell when Sally and Gillian arrive looking for answers.

The trailer opens with Aunt Franny delivering a line that perfectly captures the heart of the franchise.

“No magic is stronger than sisterhood. Cast by fate, tested by time and never broken.”

Cue the emotions.

Fans are also treated to plenty of familiar comforts, like the iconic Owens house, and Sally and Gillian slipping effortlessly back into their sisterly dynamic.

But don’t mistake this for a simple nostalgia trip. This sequel raises the stakes considerably.

Sally’s daughters, Kylie and Antonia, have now grown up and are beginning to learn the complicated truth about their family’s legacy and the infamous Owens curse that has haunted generations of women before them.

The trailer even mirrors moments from the original film, with the sisters talking under blankets, just as Sally and Gillian did as children.

“Remember when mom would tell us where everyone who fell in love… died?” Kylie asks.

“We’re Owens women. Love is our undoing.”

The return of the dreaded deathwatch beetle confirms exactly what audiences feared: the curse is not over. After Kylie seemingly falls in love, danger quickly follows, prompting her to take matters into her own hands.

From there, the trailer transforms into an enchanting supernatural adventure filled with castles, gardens, rituals, rooftop jumps, gorgeous spells, and a family desperately trying to save one of their own before it’s too late.

Visually, Practical Magic 2 feels bigger than its predecessor in every possible way. The sequel leans fully into its witchy roots, embracing fantasy while still centering the emotional bond between sisters that made the original such an enduring cult classic.

And there’s another exciting detail for book lovers.

While the 1998 film was based on Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic, the sequel takes inspiration from Hoffman’s 2021 novel The Book of Magic, the fourth and final installment in the Owens family book series.

If the trailer is any indication, audiences should prepare for equal parts cozy autumn vibes, generational healing, spooky danger, and beautifully chaotic witchcraft.

Because at its core, Practical Magic has never really been about curses.

It’s about sisterhood.

“When you have someone who knows who you were and who you will always be, there is no deeper tie, no stronger bond,” Sally says near the end of the trailer.

Practical Magic 2 flies into theaters on September 11, 2026.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we have midnight margaritas to make.
