As the 2026 FIFA World Cup prepares to take over Los Angeles, Pride House LA/West Hollywood is making sure LGBTQ+ fans are at the center of the action.
The organization announced a four-day launch event running June 11–14 at Beaches Tropicana in West Hollywood, bringing together athletes, entertainers, activists and soccer fans for a packed Pride Month celebration timed to the opening weekend of the World Cup.
Produced by Out Athlete Fund, the event marks the official debut of Pride House LA/WeHo ahead of its larger plans surrounding the 2028 Summer Games. The nonprofit-backed initiative aims to create an ongoing hub for queer visibility in sports through community programming, athlete support and large-scale fan experiences.
And honestly? They’re kicking things off with quite the lineup.
A Pride Month Celebration Built Around Soccer
The weekend begins Thursday, June 11, with the “Welcome to Pride House” opening party. Organizers describe the event as an evening centered on music, community and storytelling, with appearances from athletes, advocates and local leaders. Installations throughout the venue will highlight LGBTQ+ sports history and the journey behind Pride House itself.
Doors open at 6 p.m.
Friday’s programming leans into Latin culture and World Cup fever with “Celebramos la Cultura Latina,” hosted by Cuban entertainer Tito Bonito. The centerpiece of the evening is a live watch party for the USA vs. Paraguay FIFA World Cup match, complete with full-game audio and halftime entertainment inspired by Bad Bunny.
Additional performances and comedy sets are scheduled throughout the night.
Programming begins at 4 p.m., with the match airing from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Christen Press And Tobin Heath Headline Women In Sports Day
Saturday shifts focus to women’s athletics with a partnership alongside Angel City Football Club. Pride House LA/WeHo will host a live conversation featuring US Women’s National Team stars Christen Press and Tobin Heath, who also co-host the RE-CAP Show.
The discussion is expected to center on visibility, leadership and the evolving landscape for women in professional sports.
Later that evening, the venue transforms into a queer-centered nightlife event produced with Girls, Gays & Theys. Organizers promise comedy, DJs, surprise celebrity appearances and a dance floor designed for women and queer attendees.
Daytime programming runs from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., while the evening party begins at 8 p.m.
LGBTQ+ Soccer History Takes Center Stage
Sunday’s programming may end up being one of the weekend’s biggest draws for queer soccer fans.
In partnership with LAFC, Pride House LA/WeHo will host what organizers are calling the first-ever Gay MLS Players Reunion. Openly gay Major League Soccer players Collin Martin and Matt Hatzke will participate in a panel and meet-and-greet moderated by Outsports co-founder Cyd Zeigler.
The gathering arrives at a time when conversations around LGBTQ+ inclusion in professional sports continue to evolve globally, particularly as soccer enters a major spotlight year.
The weekend closes with the Gay Games Sendoff, honoring athletes preparing to compete at the Gay Games in Spain. Led by Out Athlete Fund board president Les Johnson, the farewell event will feature music, community celebrations and appearances from competitors heading overseas.
The reunion conversation takes place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by the sendoff party from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Building Toward The 2028 Summer Games
Pride House LA/WeHo says this June launch is only the beginning.
The organization plans to create what it calls the largest LGBTQ+ fan and cultural experience connected to the 2028 Summer Games, with West Hollywood serving as a major gathering point during the international event.
According to organizers, the future vision includes a 17-day festival featuring concerts, watch parties, panels and community activations designed to celebrate queer athletes and fans on a global stage.
“June has always been a time for our community to come together, celebrate how far we’ve come, and recommit to the work ahead — and this year, we have the World Cup as the ultimate backdrop,” Michael Ferrera, CEO of Out Athlete Fund, said in a statement. “These four days represent our mission of promoting visibility, joy, athletic excellence, and the power of chosen community.”
