Robyn could be preparing her long-awaited comeback. The Swedish pop star, whose last album Honey dropped in 2018, is at the center of swirling speculation after her frequent collaborator let slip some major news.

Producer Klas Åhlund, a creative partner since her Body Talk era, appeared on the podcast Nordmark Pod and revealed, “Just finished a new Robyn album that’s coming out. Super exciting! Very proud of it.” The comment, translated from Swedish, quickly ignited buzz among fans who have been eager for new material.

The Legacy of Honey

When Honey arrived seven years ago, critics praised its tender exploration of intimacy and self-reflection. NME called it a record that “cut through to the raw, complex tangle of emotion,” giving it four stars.

At the time, Robyn described the album title’s symbolism to the outlet, explaining that honey was “disgusting and amazing at the same time,” a perfect metaphor for the messy contradictions of self-love.

Two years later, she was honored as Songwriter of the Decade at the NME Awards, where Charli XCX and Christine and the Queens presented her with the prize. Robyn joked about feeling like she was in the futuristic world of The Fifth Element before adding that the award felt like a “lifelong prize.”

Stage Cameos and Festival Surprises

In the meantime, Robyn has been far from idle. Over the past year, she’s made a series of surprise appearances that reminded fans of her enduring stage magnetism.

She joined David Byrne at Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary concert for a moving duet of “Dancing on My Own” and later teamed with Gracie Abrams at Lollapalooza. In Copenhagen, Robyn stepped out during Jamie xx’s show to perform “Life” from his 2024 album In Waves.

She also electrified London’s O2 Arena last fall, appearing during Charli XCX’s set alongside Yung Lean to perform their remix of “360” and, of course, her signature anthem “Dancing on My Own.”

Looking Back While Moving Forward

While whispers of a new record grow louder, Robyn is also celebrating her past. She recently announced a 20th anniversary vinyl reissue of her self-titled album, which first cemented her global pop status.

Whether she’s sneaking into festival lineups or quietly finishing a studio project, Robyn has a way of keeping her audience hooked. If Åhlund’s reveal is true, fans won’t be waiting much longer for the singer’s long-overdue return.
