Snow in September may sound unusual, but at The Abbey it’s become a beloved tradition. The iconic West Hollywood nightclub is once again transforming into a winter wonderland for its 20th Annual Christmas in September toy drive, benefitting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).

A Tradition With Purpose

For nearly two decades, the event has helped replenish CHLA’s toy supply at a critical time. By the fall, the hospital’s donations run thin, with most people waiting until December to give. The Abbey’s early toy drive ensures that young patients have gifts year-round, offering comfort during treatment and hospital stays.

“Christmas in September is about giving joy when it’s needed most,” said Abbey owner Tristan Schukraft, who will co-host the evening alongside Kathy Hilton.

Star-Studded Hosts and Festive Flair

Hilton is set to bring her signature sparkle to the event, serving as co-host for the night. Together with Schukraft, she will welcome guests to a snow-dusted red carpet, complete with holiday theatrics that only The Abbey can deliver.

Attendees can expect appearances from a “Sexy Santa,” a drag version of Mrs. Claus, and gogo-dancing elves who will collect toy donations and pack them into an oversized sleigh destined for CHLA.

How to Join the Celebration

The event is open to the public for guests 21 and older. Entry requires one unwrapped toy for a child or teen, which will be exchanged for a complimentary Ketel One cocktail, along with appetizers and desserts.

Donation guidelines are available here as well as CHLA’s toy registry here for those unsure of what to bring. The hospital particularly needs items suited for infants and teenagers, age groups often overlooked in toy drives.

More Than Just a Party

Though known for its over-the-top theme nights, The Abbey’s Christmas in September balances spectacle with substance. The sight of snow falling in West Hollywood and a sleigh overflowing with toys highlights both the joy of giving and the strength of community.

With Kathy Hilton helping lead the charge this year, the 20th anniversary promises to be one of the most memorable yet. For many in West Hollywood, this festive evening is more than just a party, it’s a reminder that generosity doesn’t have to wait until December.
