Popular TikTok creator @mainlymannie, best known for their hilarious “Boss & CEO” character, has revealed their recent HIV diagnosis in an emotional video shared with fans—while also launching a crowdfunding campaign to cover the steep costs of medication.
With over one million followers on TikTok, Mannie has built a loyal audience by blending comedy, confidence, and unapologetic personality. The “Boss & CEO” persona became a viral sensation, often parodying workplace tropes and asserting powerful self-love. But after a noticeable absence from social media, fans grew concerned. Over the weekend, Mannie returned with a vulnerable update that shocked and moved their community.
“Life has been trying to take me out lately,” they shared in a heartfelt video posted to Instagram on Saturday. “From the accidents, the sicknesses, and stuff—and then me finding out I had AIDS and HIV summertime of this year. I couldn’t walk after the summer.”
The creator revealed that the diagnosis came as a result of a past relationship. “Yes, my ex gave me this, and I didn’t know. He hid a lot of things,” Mannie said. “But I’m not a victim because I had signs. I was so deep in love. But God is good. I know now.”
Despite the challenges, Mannie expressed gratitude and resilience. “I’m a lucky person. Blessed,” they said. “I’m feeling way better. I feel like me. I feel like the Boss and CEO!”
In addition to sharing their story, Mannie is now asking for help to cover the high cost of treatment launching a crowdfunding campaign. They explained that HIV medications currently cost around $4,000, a price tag that isn’t fully covered by insurance. “So, I’m gonna be working a lot,” they said. “I think I’m gonna register for foundations and stuff. Not I think—I am.”
The creator also posted a video documenting their recovery journey, including footage of them relearning how to walk with the help of a nurse. In the caption, Mannie wrote, “So this is what my insurance is paying for, and my 30% that comes out of pocket. This is why I appreciate every donation.”
The crowdfunding effort has sparked an outpouring of support across social media, with fans praising Mannie’s courage and vulnerability. In an era where HIV stigma still exists, their openness marks a powerful step toward visibility, awareness, and compassion within the LGBTQ+ community.
