Disney is taking us back to the lakeside stage where it all began. The studio has officially announced Camp Rock 3, the long-awaited continuation of the iconic Disney Channel Original Movie franchise starring the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato.
The Plot
According to Disney’s official synopsis, the film “picks up when Connect 3 lose their opening act for a major reunion tour, returning to their beloved Camp Rock to discover the next big thing.”
“As campers vie for the chance to open for their favorite band, tensions rise and friendships are tested, leading to unexpected alliances, revelations and romances,” the synopsis continues. Sounds very familiar, but honestly, we’re living for the nostalgia and the drama.
Returning Favorites
The Jonas Brothers—Kevin, Joe, and Nick—will reprise their roles as Connect 3, stepping back into the spotlight that defined a generation of Disney fans. Also returning is Maria Canals-Barrera (Wizards of Waverly Place), who will once again play Connie, Mitchie’s supportive mom and the camp chef.
While Demi Lovato’s return as Mitchie has not been confirmed, she is officially attached as an executive producer. Fans had speculated her on-stage reunion with Joe Jonas during the JONAS20 Tour in August was a sign the duo would reprise their iconic roles as Mitchie and Shane. But who knows? Disney isn’t ruling anything out just yet.
Veronica Rodriguez will direct, with a script penned by Eydie Faye. Choreography comes courtesy of Jamal Sims.
Meet the New Campers
The new installment also introduces a fresh set of Camp Rock hopefuls as well, each bringing their own unique talents:
- Sage (Liamani Segura): bold and determined, always ready to shine
- Desi (Hudson Stone): her easygoing brother with a laid-back charm
- Rosie (Lumi Pollack): a cello prodigy
- Cliff (Casey Trotter): a drummer who plays to his own rhythm
- Callie (Brooklynn Pitts): the camp’s choreo queen
- Madison (Ava Jean): an intimidating influencer
- Fletch (Malachi Barton): the rebellious camp bad boy with an edge
A Legacy Reignited
“Camp Rock is an important part of the Disney Channel Original Movie legacy, with unforgettable music, energetic storytelling, and characters that live in the hearts of fans to this day,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television. “Bringing it back with Kevin, Joe, Nick and Demi is such a full-circle moment, and we can’t wait to reintroduce this world to a new generation.”
The original Camp Rock premiered in 2008, followed by Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam in 2010. With a mix of returning stars, new talent, and Demi Lovato behind the scenes, Camp Rock 3 promises to deliver both nostalgia and fresh energy to longtime fans and first-time campers alike.
