For professional dancer Ezra Sosa, recent years have been a whirlwind of glitter, rhinestones, and standing ovations. In a conversation with Gayety at the TikTok Awards, Sosa reflected on the “surreal” feeling of his rising career and the people who have supported him along the way.
“It feels really surreal and every single day I’m just pinching myself,” Sosa said. “I feel really lucky and I have to say there’s a lot of amazing people around me who helped get me here today, and it’s thanks to them, honestly.”
Looking ahead, Sosa is preparing for a nationwide tour with Dancing with The Stars, promising more than 100 shows filled with glittering performances. “Super excited. We’re doing over a hundred shows all over the country, all the days you have to go, you know, want to see a bunch of baddies and rhinestones,” he said.
Maintaining stamina for such an intense schedule is key, and Sosa credits a combination of dance and fitness routines. “I mean, dancing every day does help, and I definitely feel like the only way to train and dancing is by dancing. Also going on runs, lightly lifting weights, but mostly just dancing,” he explained. When asked for advice on keeping energy levels high, Sosa laughed, “Just shake your ass, girl. Just shake it and you’ll look like this. And you might lose it. Yeah. But still shake it.”
Perhaps most memorable for Sosa, however, is his time on Dancing With the Stars paired with Anna Delvy. “I fear my first season as a pro, I was paired with a gay icon. Her name is Anna Delvey. Yes. We’ll never forget that,” he said, reflecting fondly on the experience and the lessons learned.
