Netflix officially debuted the first teaser trailer and brand-new photos for the third and final season of Survival of the Thickest during Michelle Buteau’s set at the Netflix Is a Joke Fest on Wednesday, May 6. To make the reveal even more iconic, Wanda Sykes surprised the crowd with an appearance of her own.
Mavis is Back and Better Than Ever
Let’s get into the final season. The teaser promises one last chaotic, glamorous, and heartfelt ride for Mavis Beaumont as she continues navigating love, friendship, fashion, and self-worth in New York City. And based on the footage? Mavis and Luca’s relationship may still be heating up after their romantic reunion at the end of Season 2.
The newly released first-look photos tease plenty of stylish moments ahead while also giving fans a look at the show’s massive lineup of guest stars.
Season 3 will feature appearances from Jonathan Van Ness, Wanda Sykes, Ashley Graham, Ronny Chieng, Jenna Lyons, Ice-T, Wyatt Cenac, and D. L. Hughley. Fashion designers LaQuan Smith and Charles Harbison are also set to appear.
And yes, Peppermint is officially back for the final season, alongside returning favorite Liza Treyger.

Inspired by Buteau’s acclaimed book of essays, the comedy follows Mavis Beaumont, a Black, plus-size stylist trying to build her fashion brand while embracing love, ambition, and radical self-confidence. Over its run, the series has become a fan-favorite for its body-positive storytelling, queer representation, and celebration of chosen family.
The streamer confirmed the series will wrap with Season 3, which premieres July 2 only on Netflix.
