Friendship can be complicated. In Imperfect Women, it may be deadly.

Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for its upcoming psychological thriller Imperfect Women, an eight-episode limited series starring and executive produced by Kerry Washington and Elisabeth Moss. The drama premieres globally on March 18, 2026, with two episodes dropping at launch, followed by weekly installments through April 29.

Created for television by Annie Weisman, who also serves as showrunner, the series adapts the novel by Araminta Hall. The story centers on a crime that fractures a decades-long bond between three women, forcing buried tensions and long-held secrets into the open.

A Crime That Unravels Everything

Rather than leaning on jump scares, Imperfect Women appears to trade in suspicion. The trailer teases shifting alliances, pointed stares and conversations loaded with subtext. As investigators circle closer to the truth, the women at the center of the case must confront the compromises that shaped their lives.

The premise explores betrayal within intimacy, how loyalty can curdle, and how shared history doesn’t guarantee trust. As the mystery unfolds, so does the realization that even the strongest connections can conceal fractures.

Washington and Moss anchor the ensemble, bringing their trademark intensity to characters who are both vulnerable and calculating. If the early footage is any indication, neither performer is playing it safe.

A Stacked Ensemble Cast

Joining Washington and Moss is a lineup packed with recognizable names: Kate Mara, Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll and Leslie Odom Jr. among them. Also appearing are Sheryl Lee Ralph, Keith Carradine, Ana Ortiz and Sherri Saum, alongside a supporting cast that fills out the world surrounding the central trio.

Behind the camera, the project reunites Weisman with Apple following her work on Physical. Moss executive produces through Love & Squalor Pictures with Lindsey McManus, who originally optioned Hall’s novel. Washington produces under her Simpson Street banner alongside Pilar Savone. Hall and writer Kay Oyegun also serve as executive producers. Select episodes are directed by Lesli Linka Glatter.

Apple TV+ Bets on Prestige Suspense

Since launching in 2019, Apple TV+ has leaned into curated originals rather than an endless scroll. The platform has collected hundreds of awards and nominations, including Emmy wins for Ted Lasso and an Academy Award for Best Picture for CODA. With Imperfect Women, the streamer continues its push into character-driven thrillers anchored by A-list talent.

For Washington and Moss, both known for portraying women navigating power structures, the series offers a new arena: friendship as a battlefield.

If the trailer is any measure, this isn’t just a whodunit. It’s a story about the stories we tell ourselves, and the cost when they fall apart.
