Lo Colby, a Hawaiian-born transgender woman now based in Los Angeles, captured the crown of Miss International Queen – USA 2026 this weekend at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City. The finale celebrated the achievements, creativity, and courage of transgender women nationwide, with Colby’s performance and presence earning her the top honor.
A Multi-Talented Star
Colby is more than a pageant contestant. She works in technology, performs on stage, and creates beauty and fashion content online, amassing a strong following on Instagram and TikTok. Her combination of skill, artistry, and charisma helped her stand out with both judges and audiences.
Zhane’ Dawlingz of Columbus, Ohio, was named First Runner-Up, while Ziena Morales of San Diego earned Second Runner-Up.
Highlights from the Week
The weeklong competition, hosted by Be the Transformational Change Fund, included the National Costume Show, Preliminary Night, and the highly anticipated Crowning Ceremony. Outgoing titleholder Midori Monet handed over the crown to Colby, symbolizing continuity and progress in elevating transgender visibility.
Reflecting on the moment, Colby said, “Time stopped for a minute when my name was announced. I felt shock, disbelief, and joy all at once. It was unlike anything I’d ever experienced.” She also noted the bond she formed with fellow contestants. “Looking at Zhane’ and sharing that hug made it even more special. We became friends during the week, and that moment grounded me.”
Advocacy at the Heart
Colby plans to use her new platform to advocate for economic empowerment for transgender women, focusing on education, career access, and entrepreneurship. She emphasized the ongoing challenges many face in workplaces and the importance of creating opportunity.
“Transgender women often face barriers in the workforce and unequal pay,” Colby said. “I know what it feels like to walk into a room and be judged before you even speak. Our resilience, empathy, and adaptability are strengths that organizations shouldn’t overlook.”
Looking Ahead to Thailand
As Miss International Queen – USA 2026, Colby will represent the United States at the international competition in Thailand. She hopes to stand out not only for her presentation but for the positivity and warmth she brings to the stage.
“Thailand is called the ‘Land of Smiles,’” Colby said. “I plan to bring that same energy—a bright smile, an open heart, and the aloha spirit from Hawaii, the land I proudly call home.”
Special Awards
Other honors presented over the weekend included Mint Hempstead as “Miss Congeniality” and Ziena Morales as “Most Photogenic.” Colby and Zhane’ Dawlingz tied for “Best Gown,” Hazel E. Devine won the “Most Popular” vote, and Altesse Aurum received the Transgender Advocacy Award.
Next Steps
In the months ahead, Colby will prepare for the international stage through coaching, strategy sessions with the Miss International Queen team, and continued engagement with the transgender community. She aims to represent the U.S. with confidence, creativity, and a commitment to advocacy, making her mark on the global stage.
