Saying goodbye to Heartstopper is proving just as emotional off-screen as on.
Just one week after the release of Heartstopper Forever, Netflix is giving fans one final return to the world of Nick, Charlie, and the cast that helped turn Alice Oseman’s beloved graphic novels into a global phenomenon.
Premiering on July 24, Heartstopper: Ending on a Hi is a brand-new behind-the-scenes special that celebrates the journey of one of Netflix’s most beloved coming-of-age series.
A Love Letter to the ‘Heartstopper’ Community
Directed by Luke Hyams, the special will feature never-before-seen archival footage captured throughout the making of every season, leading all the way to the final film.
Alongside the unseen footage, the documentary includes candid interviews with creator Alice Oseman, executive producer Patrick Walters, the cast, and the passionate fan community that embraced the series worldwide.
Rather than simply looking back at how the show was made, Ending on a Hi explores the cultural impact Heartstopper has had since its debut, highlighting the connections, conversations, and sense of belonging it inspired for LGBTQ+ viewers and allies alike.
Netflix describes the special as “a love letter to the community it brought together,” reminding fans that “every ending is also a beginning. Somewhere, someone is about to say ‘hi’ for the very first time.”
One More Week With Nick and Charlie
The documentary arrives just one week after Heartstopper Forever, the franchise’s feature-length finale, premieres on July 17.
The final chapter follows Nick and Charlie as they face their biggest relationship test yet. With Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie growing into a new chapter of independence at school, the couple must confront the uncertainty of a long-distance relationship for the first time.
As their future together comes into focus, their friends are also navigating new romances, shifting friendships, and the bittersweet reality of growing up.
The film is written by Oseman, directed by Wash Westmoreland, and stars Kit Connor, Joe Locke, William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Jenny Walser, Rhea Norwood, and Leila Khan.
