July is packed with plenty to add to your Netflix queue, but for LGBTQ+ viewers, one title stands above the rest. This month marks the end of an era as Heartstopper Forever brings Nick and Charlie’s love story to its emotional conclusion. Alongside the highly anticipated finale, Netflix is also serving up the final season of Survival of the Thickest, a sports comedy featuring out comedian Fortune Feimster, and the return of several queer fan favorites.

Here are the biggest releases to watch this July.

Michelle Buteau returns for the third season of Survival of the Thickest, continuing Mavis Beaumont’s journey through love, friendship, career highs and lows, and plenty of hilarious chaos. The series remains one of Netflix’s most inclusive comedies, featuring standout performances from LGBTQ+ stars like Peppermint while celebrating queer joy and chosen family.

‘The Hawk’ (July 16)

While Ferrell brings the laughs, queer audiences will also be excited to see Fortune Feimster join the ensemble cast alongside Molly Shannon, Chris Parnell and Luke Wilson. If the trailer is any indication, expect over-the-top comedy, outrageous characters, and plenty of absurd golf antics.

Get the tissues ready.

After three beloved seasons, Heartstopper comes to an end with its feature-length finale. Heartstopper Forever follows Nick and Charlie as they face the next chapter of their relationship while preparing for university and navigating the possibility of long-distance love.

Based on Alice Oseman’s beloved graphic novels and written by Oseman herself, the film reunites Kit Connor and Joe Locke one final time for what promises to be one of Netflix’s biggest LGBTQ+ events of the year.

Queer favorites returning to Netflix

Several beloved films are also returning to Netflix this month, making it the perfect time for a rewatch.

The beloved baseball classic A League of Their Own remains an undeniable queer favorite decades after its release, while Todd Field’s psychological drama TÁR returns later in the month for anyone still fascinated by Cate Blanchett’s unforgettable performance.

Looking for something a little campier? White Chicks is back for another round of endlessly quotable comedy, and horror fans can revisit the original Scream trilogy before spooky season officially begins.

Other returning favorites include High Fidelity, Gone Girl, Nomadland, Talk to Me, The Witch and the entire Hunger Games film series.

More Netflix originals to keep an eye on

Outside of LGBTQ+ programming, July also features several major Netflix premieres.

Millie Bobby Brown returns as the brilliant young detective in Enola Holmes 3, kicking off Netflix’s July slate with another mystery to solve. Henry Cavill is also back as the legendary Sherlock Holmes, while Helena Bonham Carter reprises her role as the wonderfully eccentric Eudoria Holmes, the unconventional matriarch of the Holmes family. With the beloved cast reunited and another thrilling case on the horizon, the third installment promises more adventure, wit and family intrigue.

Meanwhile, horror producer Jason Blum brings more real-life nightmares with the true crime series Worst Neighbor Ever. Fans of sports documentaries can check out a new season of Quarterback, and Korean drama lovers won’t want to miss the lavish historical mystery The East Palace.

Whether you’re here for heartfelt romance, outrageous comedy, horror classics or prestige dramas, Netflix’s July lineup offers something for just about every mood. But if there’s one title you absolutely shouldn’t miss, it’s saying one last goodbye to Nick and Charlie in Heartstopper Forever.
