Nicholas Galitzine is used to commanding the screen, but in his latest project, he’s just as excited about someone else’s star power: Charli XCX. The 31-year-old Mary & George actor appears alongside the pop provocateur in 100 Nights of Hero, an absurdist fairytale from writer-director Julia Jackman. And while Galitzine admits he was “disappointed” the two didn’t share any scenes, he’s still thrilled to see one of his longtime favorite musicians flourishing in Hollywood.
“She’s always been huge in England,” says the English actor, “but she’s got such incredible energy and is truly creatively unyielding and a powerhouse, really. I think that kind of word gets thrown around a lot, but I think her appetite for the creative and pushing herself creatively cannot be satiated.”
The film, now in theaters, casts Galitzine as a mysterious guest whose presence throws the already fragile relationships inside a remote castle into disarray. According to IFC Films, the story centers on a “charming house guest” (Galitzine) who disrupts the dynamic between a neglectful husband, an innocent bride named Cherry (Maika Monroe), and their loyal maid Hero (Emma Corrin). Charli appears in a supporting role—one of several recent steps in her increasingly busy screen career.
The pop star is quickly building an artistic empire that extends far beyond music. After debuting her first leading film role in the indie comedy Erupcja at September’s Toronto International Film Festival, she’s set to headline The Moment, an A24 film inspired by an original idea from the “Boom Clap” singer herself. On top of that, Charli created the full soundtrack, 12 new original songs, for Emerald Fennell’s highly anticipated 2026 adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights.
For Galitzine, seeing Charli’s newest cinematic venture feels like watching a creative force expand right before his eyes. Galitzine added, “I just saw that the Wuthering Heights trailer, which looks f——- unreal, and I have heard the soundtrack she wrote as well, and it’s like she’s doing that. We’ve spoken. Acting is going to be, I think, a big part of her life now. And so I very much admire people who are just these forces.”
He also notes he was surprised to learn 100 Nights of Hero wasn’t Charli’s first foray into acting. “I have to say, it’s very inspiring just seeing what she’s been able to do and yeah, I really look forward to seeing her next acting role,” he continues. “I was at the screening with Julia and I was like, ‘I thought we were the first ones, Charli’s an actor, but apparently someone else got to her before we did, which is frustrating.”
Even without sharing scenes, Galitzine says working on a film with Charli attached was a creative milestone. And with her career expanding across film, soundtracks, and music, he’s excited to see what she does next. “It’s very inspiring just seeing what she’s been able to do,” he says. “I really look forward to her next acting role.”
100 Nights of Hero, starring Nicholas Galitzine, Charli XCX, Emma Corrin, Maika Monroe and Amir El-Masry, is now playing in theaters nationwide.
