Co-creator Ross Duffer just dropped the actual runtimes for the highly anticipated fifth and final season of Stranger Things, and let’s just say, sleep is not on the agenda.
While fans eagerly await the new season, rumors started swirling that each episode would run up to 2 or 3 hours. But the Stranger Things team is here to shut that down once and for all.
In a new Instagram post, Duffer shared a video confirming the official runtimes for the first 4 episodes of Stranger Things Season 5: Volume 1, which drops November 26 on Netflix.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Chapter One: “The Crawl” – 1 hour, 8 minutes
- Chapter Two: “The Vanishing of…” – 54 minutes
- Chapter Three: “The Turnbow Trap” – 1 hour, 6 minutes
- Chapter Four: “Sorcerer” – 1 hour, 23 minutes
That’s over four and a half hours of Demogorgon drama, and it’s only the beginning. Volume 2 will follow on December 25 with 3 more episodes, and the series finale is set to arrive December 31, just in time to ring in the New Year.
Duffer also revealed that The Crawl might be his personal favorite since Season 1, calling it “the most eventful episode” the team has ever done. And if that wasn’t enough hype, he said the second episode “has by far the craziest cold open we’ve ever done.” Translation: there’s so much to be hype about. If you need a countdown, Netflix has one right here.
So yeah, it’s safe to assume things are about to get weird (even by Upside Down standards). Hawkins is still reeling from the chaos left behind by the Rifts, and the gang is more united than ever with one mission: take down Vecna. But he’s vanished without a trace, and his next move is anyone’s guess. Meanwhile, the government has locked down the town under military quarantine and renewed its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance looms, so does a chilling sense of déjà vu. The final battle is coming — darker, deadlier, and bigger than anything before — and it’s going to take the entire party to end this nightmare once and for all.
After nearly a decade of Hawkins mysteries, the Stranger Things saga is coming to an epic close. Watch the teaser trailer for the final season here.
