Warning: This story contains spoilers for Season 9 of Netflix’s Selling Sunset.
The drama at the Oppenheim Group just hit an all-time high. In Selling Sunset’s explosive ninth season, longtime agent Nicole Young is officially let go from the brokerage after a heated confrontation with Chrishell Stause that left castmates, and viewers, stunned.
The new season, which dropped Wednesday, Oct. 29 on Netflix, sees tensions between Young and her coworkers reach a breaking point during Amanza Smith’s “Galsgiving” dinner, where harsh words turn into career-ending consequences.
The spark? A “disheartening” comment Young made about Stause’s late parents, a jab so shocking that it prompted Jason and Brett Oppenheim to step in and make what they called a “tough decision.”

A Dinner Party Turns Devastating
The blowup begins in episode 2, when unresolved tension between Young and fellow agent Emma Hernan resurfaces. Young had previously accused Hernan of having an affair with a married man, a claim that caused friction in Season 8 and clearly hadn’t been forgotten.
As the argument escalates, Amanza Smith calls out Young’s behavior directly, telling her, “I love you, but you f—ed up.” Young fires back, “Where was this energy when it was me?”
That’s when the conversation takes a darker turn. Smith references a Season 6 moment when Stause accused Young of being “cracked out” during a trip to Palm Springs, a comment Stause later admitted was unfair. When Stause asks Smith, “Even if it was true?” Young snaps.
Looking directly at her costar, she says, “Honey, you’re confusing me with your parents, okay? You seem to be obsessed with drugs.”

The comment immediately sends the dinner into chaos. Cast members shout at Young, demanding she leave. Smith, visibly furious, yells, “Get the f— out. [Chrishell’s] parents are dead. Are you f—ing serious?”
Stause, who lost both of her parents to lung cancer within two years, is left in tears. The moment quickly became one of the show’s most talked-about scenes.
The Aftermath: Jason and Brett Take Action
By episode 3, Jason and Brett Oppenheim call Young into the office for a serious conversation.

“Let me start this off just by saying, the reason we asked you in early is because there’s obviously been an escalation of issues between you, Chrishell, and other ladies that’s come to our attention,” Jason says. “When it started, we felt like we could fix it … But it feels more and more like we’re jamming a square peg into a round hole. It’s just not working.”
Then, Jason makes it clear: her comment about Stause’s parents crossed the line.
“I honestly could not believe the comment you made about Chrishell’s parents,” he tells her. “I was viscerally disheartened and offended. Any reference to someone’s dead parents is categorically off limits. Especially if it’s disparaging.”
Brett adds that Young’s behavior has become “incredibly toxic,” before the brothers deliver the news that their “only solution” is for her to “leave the office.”
Young, visibly emotional, pushes back: “You honestly think that’s fair? How long I’ve been here, the amount of business I bring in. Are you prepared to lose that?”
In a confessional, she later says, “Jason and Brett are the last people I thought I’d get this reaction from. The one thing I’ve always said about them is that no matter what, they know who I really am.”
Fallout Among the Agents
When the news spreads, reactions are mixed but unsurprised. “It does not surprise me that Nicole’s been fired,” cast member Bre Tiesi says. “She’s taken it to the pits of hell and I’m actually really proud of Jason.”
Despite the dramatic firing, Young’s bio still appears on the Oppenheim Group’s website, and she later reveals she’s wrapping up her final listings before moving to Nashville with her husband.
For longtime Selling Sunset fans, the scene marks one of the most dramatic firings in series history — and a reminder that in the high-gloss world of luxury real estate, no one’s job is truly safe.
Selling Sunset Season 9 is now streaming on Netflix.
