A park, a sauna, a bar: Squirt members have been trading tips about where to meet since 1999. On Oct. 27, the site put those listings on a single map. The new Places Map lets members browse nearby spots and filter for the kind of place they want, instead of opening each listing separately.
Members’ check-ins appear there too. The check-in feature was already part of Squirt; this release brings it into the map. In its announcement, the company described the change as “taking the guesswork out of where to go.”
“The best connections happen in person, and that’s what Squirt has always been about,” said Rob Fisher, Squirt’s director of product development and customer success. “Less time searching, more time connecting.”
How Squirt Check-Ins Work on the Places Map
Checking in is optional. A member can post a check-in up to an hour before arriving, and it remains visible for an hour, according to Squirt’s launch announcement. That timing matters when reading the map: someone who has checked in may still be on the way.
A check-in shares a chosen location with other members. Its one-hour lifespan limits how long it appears, but members should still consider whether they want to disclose a place they visit or plan to visit.

Pink Triangle Press also publishes Xtra. Squirt is older than Grindr by a decade, and its app-store version, SQ Dating, arrived on iPhones in April 2026. The Places Map adds another way to browse that long-running collection of member listings.
Squirt says the Places Map is available to all members through its app and Squirt.org.
