The Spider-Verse just got a little queerer. Emmy-nominated actor Tramell Tillman, best known for his chilling turn in Severance, is swinging into the Marvel universe. Variety reports that Tillman has officially joined Sony and Marvel’s upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though his role is still under wraps.
Who’s in the Cast?
Tillman joins Tom Holland, reprising his role as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds. The film also packs some surprising muscle: Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk are confirmed to appear, hinting at a much bigger crossover event than past Spidey flicks.
Other confirmed stars include Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink and In Treatment actress Liza Colón-Zayas, both in mysterious roles. And if that wasn’t enough, the rumor mill is buzzing about Florence Pugh and Joe Keery potentially swinging into the action too.

Why We’re Excited For Tillman to Join the MCU
Tillman made history this year as the first openly gay Black man nominated for a supporting actor Emmy in a drama. In a recent interview with Variety, he made it clear he’s stepping into his power: “I’m not playing small for nobody. I’m not dimming my light for anybody,” he said.
Tillman also starred in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and played Joel Kim Booster’s on-screen husband in the adorable Max original film, Sweethearts.
Release Date
Directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
