Andrew Scott Has ‘No Qualms’ About His ‘It Gets Worse’ Spit Scene

Andrew Scott discusses his scene with Leo Reich, who shares how the cameo happened. Here's where to watch the comedy.

Andrew Scott has broken his silence on the spit, and of course he’s completely fine about it. The actor discussed his “It Gets Worse” cameo with Out, which named him its 2026 Icon of the Year.

“I have no qualms about doing that stuff,” Scott said. “It’s part of our human nature.” He described the shoot as “a really fun morning’s work.”

Scott plays a therapist in the opening scene, opposite creator Leo Reich as Ethan. The encounter turns sexual, and Scott’s character spits into Ethan’s mouth. It’s a cameo in Reich’s six-part A24 comedy about three London friends facing eviction.

Reich told Entertainment Weekly on Oct. 26 that he texted Scott the script, then worried about the request. “I think Andrew Scott’s gonna get a restraining order against me,” he recalled thinking. Scott accepted the part.
