Stephen Amell leads Fox’s Baywatch reboot cast as Hobie Buchannon, the son David Hasselhoff’s Mitch raised on the original show. Hobie’s a lifeguard captain now. Jessica Belkin plays Charlie Vale, the daughter he never knew he had. She turns up on his doorstep asking for a job.
Fox set the U.S. premiere for Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2027, at 9/8c, TVLine reported. Seven actors lead the new series. Four original stars return, including David Chokachi as lifeguard and bar owner Cody Madison.
Fox promised “tangled relationships, complicated chemistry and beachside heroics” in its May announcement. The network had ordered 12 episodes back in September 2025, per Variety, and Gayety covered the pickup that same day.
‘Baywatch’ Reboot Cast: Who’s Who on Fox’s New Team
| Series regular | Character |
|---|---|
| Stephen Amell | Hobie Buchannon |
| Jessica Belkin | Charlie Vale |
| Shay Mitchell | Trina |
| Hassie Harrison | Nat |
| Thaddeus LaGrone | Brad |
| Noah Beck | Luke |
| Brooks Nader | Selene |
Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon
Brandon Call played Hobie as a kid. Jeremy Jackson took over. Now Amell, the guy who spent eight seasons playing Oliver Queen on “Arrow,” gets to play David Hasselhoff’s son as a dad himself.
Hobie captains the rescue crew. Nat is his closest friend there. A rookie named Luke looks up to him. The one person he never saw coming was Charlie, his own daughter. There’s a rather sweet footnote to that casting. “My daughter’s doing the junior lifeguard program this summer,” Amell told TV Insider in May.
Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale
Charlie comes from Galveston, Texas, where things haven’t gone well at home. She’s come a long way to meet the father who never knew she existed. What she asks him for, of all things, is a job.
Fox describes the “Elle” actor’s character as “fearless, passionate, and occasionally reckless.” That last part might give Hobie pause. Charlie does get to put her rescue training to use when an ocean researcher named Julian needs help.
Shay Mitchell as Trina
Queer “Pretty Little Liars” fans spent seven seasons with Mitchell as Emily Fields. Remember how much time Emily spent in the pool? Trina comes to the water by a rather different route. She quit her job at a top law firm to become a full-time lifeguard.
Her old colleague Ethan thinks she made a mistake. Trina can usually make both sides of an argument all by herself. Fox calls her “the sharpest mind on Baywatch.”
Hassie Harrison as Nat
Hobie’s closest friend is Nat. She grew up in foster care and competed at the Olympics. On the beach, she holds the other guards to the same standard she expects of herself. Doesn’t always go over well at home, either, judging by her character description.
Harrison played Laramie, the barrel racer on “Yellowstone.” Here she’s the person Hobie turns to when he needs a second in command.
Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad
After two tours with the Marines, Brad comes home to Venice Beach because his dad is sick. Brad can do a lot of the physical work of a rescue on his own. What he has trouble doing is asking another guard for help.
LaGrone, who plays Lawrence Taylor in “Mr. Irrelevant,” had an altogether different franchise in mind when he saw the stunts. “We have action scenes that feel like the Avengers,” he told TV Insider.
Noah Beck as Luke
Luke is the youngest in a family of firefighters. He picked the beach. He surfs, flirts and turns out to be particularly good at getting people out of the water. His best friend is Koya, another rookie. He looks to Hobie as a mentor and a father figure.
Beck played a quarterback in “Sidelined.” Showrunner Matt Nix told Deadline that he hadn’t realized Beck was a TikTok star when he cast him.
Brooks Nader as Selene
Nader’s Selene already captains the Zuma Beach lifeguards. She and Hobie have never agreed on how to handle a rescue. Then Hobie hires his own daughter, a decision that sends the rivalry well past friendly competition. TheWrap ran Fox’s description when Nader joined the cast.
The job even surprised Nader’s family. “My parents are like, ‘We didn’t even know you wanted to act,’” the “Love Thy Nader” star told TV Insider. She said director McG went to bat for her.
Which Four Original ‘Baywatch’ Stars Are Back?
Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin and Kelly Packard will make special guest appearances, TVLine reported. David Chokachi has a recurring part.
David Chokachi as Cody Madison
The Shoreline is Cody’s place. He runs the bar, looks out for the younger guards and serves free wings after a big save. Fans who watched the show in the ’90s will remember Chokachi in the red trunks from 1995 to 1999.
At the February casting call, Chokachi told KYMA that Cody is “still an active lifeguard.” Of the four original actors coming back, he’s the one with a recurring part.
Erika Eleniak as Shauni McClain
Remember Shauni from the first two seasons? She sits on Santa Monica’s city council these days. According to Variety, her guest appearance brings her back to open the Beach Games with Hobie. The lifeguards are the defending champs. Their opponents are the Coast Guard.
Eleniak shared photos from the new set in September. She left the original series early in season three.
Kelly Packard as April Giminski
April knows Hobie from long before anyone called him captain. She, Hobie and J.D. went through rookie training together. They still know the local water better than almost anyone. Packard played April in seasons eight and nine.
She posted a reunion photo with Bergin and Chokachi in May. “It felt good to be back on set!” she wrote.
Michael Bergin as Jack “J.D.” Darius
J.D. is Jack Darius, one of the lifeguards who came up alongside Hobie and April. TheWrap reported the three have stayed friends. Bergin joined in season eight, stayed through the move to Hawaii and later turned up in the “Hawaiian Wedding” TV movie. In the new show, he and Packard are guest stars.
Are David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson in the reboot?
Fox has yet to announce Hasselhoff or Anderson. Amell addressed that question after an open casting call in Marina del Rey in February. “I specifically told them not to tell me,” he told Us Weekly. His reason? “I just allow myself to be surprised with the script.”
‘Baywatch’ Guest Stars and Recurring Cast
Beyond the seven series regulars, Fox has cast junior guards, first responders and members of Hobie’s extended family. Deadline’s casting report identifies five recurring characters, including Diego, Jasmine and Trina’s former colleague Ethan.
Livvy Dunne as Grace
Dunne, the former LSU gymnast, makes her acting debut as Grace. Fox bills her as a junior lifeguard with enthusiasm to spare and lists her alongside the seven leads on its cast page. She has a recurring part.
Grace was the first role Dunne booked. Her first audition was for “The White Lotus,” she told Jimmy Fallon in May.
Mary McDonnell as Gayle Buchannon
The original Gayle Buchannon was Wendie Malick. Here, “Battlestar Galactica” president Mary McDonnell plays the woman who raised Hobie. That also makes her Charlie’s grandmother.
Gayle and her son have spent stretches apart. Deadline’s casting announcement describes a woman with a “wryly funny presence” who still shows up to help even when her family hasn’t asked.
Ashley Moore as Jasmine
Jasmine might be the last rookie you’d pick for a friendly chat and the first you’d want on a difficult call. She’s got a mean streak, per Deadline, and the skills to back up her attitude. Moore played Riley in the TV adaptation of “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
Kylar Miranda as Diego
Diego, from East L.A., is already an experienced guard when we meet him. He’s the handyman at the station, too. Miranda, pictured on the right, appeared in the queer period drama “On Swift Horses.”
Luke Eisner as Koya
Koya is Luke’s best friend among the rookies. The musician pictured here is Luke Eisner, who plays Koya. Noah Beck plays Luke. Koya has the surfer looks and a more eccentric side than his friends might expect. Eisner was Stig, the tall Swedish exchange student in Netflix’s “Tall Girl.”
Nadia Gray as Lisa
When the guards need an EMT, Lisa is already on their stretch of beach. She gets along with just about everyone. Variety reported that one guard in particular catches her eye, without naming the person. Gray previously appeared on “All Rise.”
Charlie McElveen as Ethan
Trina’s old law firm has a face. Ethan worked alongside her and can’t quite understand why an accomplished lawyer would leave for a job at the beach. McElveen played Clippers guard JJ Redick in FX’s “Clipped.”
Blair Redford as Hunter
Hunter, a cameraman, has shot footage on Hollywood sets and in war zones. He meets the lifeguards while working on a news special about women first responders. The assignment ends before the attraction does. Deadline reported in July that he sticks around for one of the guards. Redford also appeared in “Three Women” and “The Gifted.”
John Beckwith as Julian
Who rescues whom? Charlie pulls Julian out of the water. He’s a doctoral student working with an ocean research team brought in to help Baywatch. Deadline broke the casting news in June and said the attraction is mutual. Beckwith (“Song Sung Blue”) has a recurring role opposite Belkin.
Megan Thee Stallion as herself
That really is Megan on the sand. She plays herself in Fox’s October promo, where a passing lifeguard gives her an idea. “Is that man real? How can I get him to save me?” she asks. The cameo follows her stint as Harold Zidler in Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge! The Musical.”
What the ‘Baywatch’ Cast Said About Filming
Belkin picked up an unexpected lesson while filming a scene on the beach. Producer Greg Bonann showed her how to dig her toes into the sand as if she’d slipped on heels. It makes her legs look longer on camera, she told Extra at Fox’s upfront in May.
“He didn’t tell me that!” Amell said. Harrison’s reply: “Don’t be flat-footed out there, buddy.”
Amell said the red trunks felt unexpectedly familiar when he put them on. He was speaking at MIPCOM, the TV market in Cannes, France, Variety reported Oct. 13.
The “Arrow” veteran had his answer ready. “It’s because it’s a superhero show. That’s what it feels like to me, and that makes my job easy,” he said.
He’d assumed nothing would top the overnight “Arrow” shoots in Vancouver. Then he found himself working on Venice Beach from sunrise to sunset. “It was a lot,” Amell said.
Noah Beck, the rookie Luke, came to acting through TikTok, and showrunner Matt Nix didn’t realize Beck was a TikTok star when he cast him, Deadline reported. “It almost felt like putting on superhero armor every morning,” Beck said.
Is There a ‘Baywatch’ Reboot Trailer?
Charlie shows up on Hobie’s doorstep in the official trailer, which Fox posted to YouTube Oct. 13. “Don’t worry, I’m not looking for money. Or a father. Just need a job!” she tells him, per the A.V. Club’s write-up, which also caught a plane going down in the ocean.
Where to Watch and Stream ‘Baywatch’ in 2027
Fox’s show page, titled “Watch Baywatch (2027) on FOX One,” says you can “stream every episode live and on demand” there. The premiere airs at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific, 8 p.m. Central.
Prime Video bought the new show and the whole original run for Canada, Latin America, India, Turkey and much of Western Europe, with a 2027 date still to be confirmed, according to Fremantle’s August 4 announcement. Fremantle also listed Sky for the UK and Ireland and Stan for Australia.
Who’s Making Fox’s ‘Baywatch’ Revival?
Matt Nix, whose credits include “Burn Notice” and “The Gifted,” wanted to shoot in Los Angeles, he told Deadline. The production used the Venice Lifeguard Operations Station.
“People say it’s impossible to shoot in L.A., but it isn’t,” he said.
“We have found the perfect partners in Fox to help us maintain this legacy,” Christian Vesper, Fremantle’s CEO of global drama, said when Fox ordered the show, Variety reported. Original creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann and Doug Schwartz are executive producers, and McG directed the premiere, per Fox.
