A24’s upcoming feature The Moment is shaping up to be a pop culture event, with Charli XCX, Kylie Jenner, Rachel Sennott, and Kate Berlant among its star-studded cast. The first teaser has fans buzzing.

Written by Aidan Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, and based on an original concept by Charli XCX, the film centers on a rising pop star navigating the pressures of fame while gearing up for her arena-tour debut. Charli XCX not only conceived the idea but also stars in the lead role.

A Cast Full of Surprises

The ensemble extends far beyond the music world. Alexander Skarsgård, Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates, Trew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Richard Perez, Isaac Powell, Rish Shah, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workéyè, Shygirl, and A.G. Cook round out the cast. Skarsgård, Arquette, and Mullen were first linked to the project back in March.

A.G. Cook, a longtime Charli XCX collaborator, will create original music for the film, ensuring the soundtrack matches the movie’s pop star energy.

Behind the Scenes

Charli XCX is producing the project under her Studio365 label, with David Hinojosa of 2 AM. Executive producers include Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz-Wright, and Zach Nutman. The film is slated for a theatrical release next year, promising both music and cinematic spectacle.

Charli XCX’s Pivot to Film

This project marks a notable shift for Charli XCX, who has increasingly embraced the screen. In 2025, she’s appeared in Pete Ohs’ Erupcja, which debuted at TIFF, and Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero, which premiered at Venice and closes the London Film Festival next week. With The Moment, she continues to explore new creative territory while maintaining her pop icon status.

Fans can expect The Moment to blend the glitz of arena tours with the sharp realities of the music industry, all while delivering Charli XCX’s signature style.
