Pop darling, longtime LGBTQ+ ally, and self-proclaimed “Pride mother,” Betty Who is back—and she’s never looked (or sounded) better. The Australian-American singer-songwriter debuted her latest single, “Sweat,” just in time for her headlining appearance at WorldPride, and it’s safe to say: the moment is hers.
From high-energy performances to heartfelt conversations about self-expression, Betty Who continues to be a glittering force in queer pop culture. But this time, the glam goddess turned director, dropping a steamy, low-budget music video that may be her most authentic work yet.
“Sweat”: A Deconstructed Pop Fantasy
“Sweat” is more than a summer bop—it’s a shimmering slice of synth-pop liberation. The track is bold, slick, and intentionally sexy, radiating the energy of an underground club anthem filtered through Betty’s signature lens of queer joy and emotional honesty.
But the accompanying music video? That’s where things get personal.

“I directed the video with my husband,” Betty told Gayety in an exclusive chat, revealing how stepping behind the camera helped her reclaim her creative power. “Music videos used to really stress me out. I’ve always known what I want my music to sound like, but visuals? That’s been harder.”
She continued, “So we said, what if it’s just sweaty? What if that’s enough? Let’s stop reinventing the wheel and just make something that feels good.”
The result is a gritty, gorgeous ode to body heat and confidence—complete with glowing skin, intimate framing, and just enough glam to remind you this is, after all, Betty Who.
Low-budget? Maybe. Low-impact? Absolutely not.
The Queen of Pride Hits Her Peak at WorldPride 2025
Performing at WorldPride 2025 felt like a full-circle moment for Betty, who’s spent the last decade building a deep, enduring relationship with LGBTQ+ audiences around the globe.
“WorldPride feels like a culmination of the last ten years of my life,” she said. “This is the mega Pride. I’ve been working my way up to this.”
Known for her electric stage presence and crowd-pleasing anthems, Betty’s WorldPride performance will not disappoint. The set was filled with fan favorites, emotional ballads, and a euphoric live debut of “Sweat,” all wrapped in high-energy choreography and infectious joy.
“Pride is about community. It’s about showing up for each other, celebrating yourself, and gassing each other up,” she said backstage. “That’s exactly what I try to write into my music.”
Betty also teased her upcoming “Out of the Darkness Tour,” a fitting title for a time she describes as challenging for the queer community. “Now more than ever, it’s so important to take care of each other. That’s the energy I’m bringing onstage. Pride isn’t just about partying. It’s about survival and love.”
Pop Star, Advocate, and Queer Icon
It’s no secret that Betty Who’s fanbase is full of LGBTQ+ listeners—and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“There’s a section of pop culture that simply wouldn’t exist without the queer community,” she said. “And as I get older, I get gayer. I feel more myself now than ever.”
Her connection to fans is palpable. From emotional meet-and-greets to tearful sing-alongs, Betty knows how to create space for healing and celebration. “I love when people share their stories with me—whether it’s the best day of their lives or the worst. I’ve been there. I get it.”
That authenticity is part of what’s helped her sustain a dedicated fanbase for over a decade. From viral beginnings—remember the iconic gay Home Depot proposal video soundtracked by “Somebody Loves You”?—to major festival stages, Betty’s journey has always been rooted in community and connection.
“I was still in college when that proposal video went up,” she recalled. “The fact that it reached millions, that it mattered to people—that was the moment I realized music could really change lives.”
A Year of Releases (and a Lot More Sweat)
With “Sweat” now streaming and more new music on the way, Betty Who is entering a bold new era. Unlike the label-dominated delays of her early career, she’s embracing spontaneity and creative control.
“I used to overthink everything. Now, if I love a song, we finish it and put it out,” she said. “I want to have fun. I want to take risks. ‘Sweat’ scared me a little—and that’s how I knew it was the right song to release.”
From the basement studios of her early 20s to the global stage at WorldPride, Betty Who has become more than a pop star. She’s a symbol of queer resilience, artistic freedom, and heartfelt celebration.
As she said best: “If you see someone who needs help, take care of them. Offer them water. Ask where their friends are. That’s Pride. That’s what it means to show up for each other.”
And showing up is exactly what Betty Who does—onstage, on screen, and in our hearts.
