During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Bridgerton star may have just found it. Fans have been casting him as Bruce Wayne in James Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe reboot, The Brave and the Bold.
“Would I do Batman?” he responded to host Jimmy Fallon. “I grew up with Val Kilmer, George Clooney, obviously Christian Bale, and Robert Pattinson. It’s a legacy. I think James Gunn is amazing.”
Bailey didn’t give a definitive answer but left the door open, teasing, “Who knows what the next Jimmy Fallon appearance might hold.”
James Gunn’s The Brave and the Bold will introduce a new Batman within the DCU, focusing on his relationship with his son, Damian Wayne. Andy Muschietti (The Flash) is still attached to direct, and casting for the project has not yet begun.
That hasn’t stopped fans from rallying behind Bailey, whose mix of charm and intensity has made him one of the internet’s favorite fan-casts for the Dark Knight. His breakout as Anthony Bridgerton and his turn as Tim Laughlin in Fellow Travelers showcased his range, proving he can balance both heart and grit—two traits essential for Gotham’s brooding hero.
Though he joked about having Fallon as his Robin, the internet has already spun up dream pairings, with fans suggesting names like Nicholas Galitzine, Jacob Elordi, and Joe Locke as potential sidekicks.
For now, Bailey is keeping his cape-free life busy. He’s set to reprise his role as Prince Fiyero in Wicked: For Good alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, arriving in theaters November 21.
