Jordan Firstman Says He Donated Sperm for His Sister and Her Wife’s Baby

Jordan Firstman told W Magazine he donated sperm to his sister and her wife. The baby arrived on his last day filming "Club Kid," which A24 opens Nov. 6.

Jordan Firstman donated sperm so his sister and her wife could have a baby, and the child was born on the final day of production on his movie “Club Kid.” He talked about it in a W Magazine profile published Oct. 27.

“It was coincidental,” Firstman told the magazine. “I had written the first draft, and then my sister asked for my sperm [for her wife].”

He called it a “total no-brainer.” The timing was harder to take in. “The baby was born on my last day of production. Very emotional, very hard to process,” he said.

He’s also clear about where he fits. “I’m an uncle, let’s be clear. I’m not doing any fatherly duties,” Firstman said. “I smile on FaceTime and send her gifts. My sister and her wife are so happy.”

People picked up the story the same day. Neither outlet named his sister, her wife or the baby.

A24 Opens ‘Club Kid’ in Theaters Nov. 6

The news comes days before the film’s release. A24 lists a Nov. 6 opening for “Club Kid,” with a running time of two hours and two minutes. TheWrap reported that the film will start in select theaters before expanding.

It’s Firstman’s first feature as a director. He also wrote it and plays the lead, Peter, a washed-up New York party promoter. Peter learns he has a 10-year-old son, played by Reggie Absolom, after the boy’s mother dies. Cara Delevingne, Diego Calva and Kirby Howell-Baptiste co-star.

The film premiered at Cannes in May. A24 won it after a $17 million bidding war, W reported. In October it played the New York Film Festival.

He told W the Cannes reaction felt like “an amalgamation of 15 years of work.” Asked how he sees the movie within the queer canon, he described several sides of it. “It’s more of a party movie, a drug movie, and a father-son movie. Kramer vs. Kramer with a queer twist,” he said.

Jordan Firstman Tells Andrew Scott About His Old Crush

On Oct. 28, Interview Magazine published a conversation between Firstman and Scott. It was recorded Sept. 6 at the Telluride Film Festival, where Scott had his own film, “Elsinore.” Scott asked the questions.

Scott asked if Firstman was pleased when he found out Scott is gay. “Obviously. You know I used to have the biggest crush on you,” he told him.

He said the pair went on dates during the pandemic, and that their first messages left him starstruck. “I was like, ‘I can’t believe I’m texting with a hot priest,'” he said, a nod to Scott’s “Fleabag” role. He said the crush mostly ended at a W party. “I still think we flirt every time we see each other,” he added.

The talk got serious, too. Firstman said his mother’s first reaction when he came out was, “That’s okay, but just don’t get a gay voice and don’t get AIDS.”

Scott asked what he wants to do next as an actor. “I’m not an actor in the way you’re a real actor,” Firstman answered.

“I feel like a writer first, maybe director second, and actor third,” he said.
