Kit Connor is keeping busy and breaking hearts this fall. The Heartstopper star is officially joining Andrew Haigh’s upcoming drama A Long Winter, reuniting with his Warfare co-star D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai.
The film, from the All of Us Strangers director, also stars Fred Hechinger (Gladiator II) and promises another emotional knockout from Haigh, a four-time BAFTA nominee known for stories about love, loss, and longing.
A Storm is Coming
While details about Connor’s role are still under wraps, Deadline reports that the movie centers on Louise, an alcoholic mother who vanishes after a fight with her husband, Lester. As a blizzard traps the town, Lester and their sons Mike (Hechinger) and Tommy set out to find her with help from neighbors and local law enforcement.
It sounds like a tense, wintry search-and-rescue tale with the kind of human ache Haigh does best. Expect heartbreak, catharsis, and probably a few tears frozen mid-cheek.
Kit’s Hot Streak Continues
The 21-year-old actor has been on a roll since Heartstopper made him a household name. He has appeared in His Dark Materials, Rocketman, and the indie Little Joe. He’s reuniting with Alex Garland (Warfare) for A24’s live-action adaptation of Elden Ring, starring in the zombie thriller Rapture, and leading the upcoming Heartstopper: Forever TV movie.
Between that stacked lineup and A Long Winter, Connor is showing the world he’s much more than our favorite bisexual book-boyfriend. He’s an actor with serious range and impeccable timing.
Haigh’s last film, All of Us Strangers, was a queer romantic drama starring Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal that took audiences (and critics) by storm. It earned multiple major nominations across the BAFTAs, Gothams, and Independent Spirit Awards, with Haigh’s writing and direction getting special recognition from critics’ groups around the world.
