Lady Gaga is bringing her signature spectacle to the halls of Nevermore Academy. Variety confirms the pop icon will release a brand-new single, “Dead Dance,” for the next season of Netflix’s Wednesday, arriving just in time for her guest role on the hit series.

A Legendary Teacher Enters Nevermore

Gaga will step into the show as Rosaline Rotwood, described as a “legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday.” While Netflix is keeping Rotwood’s exact involvement under wraps, early whispers suggest she’ll play a pivotal role in the season’s gothic mischief.

It’s reported “Dead Dance” was crafted with the same creative force behind Gaga’s Mayhem album — producers and songwriters Andrew Watt and Cirkut — whose track record with the singer has yielded bombastic, genre-bending hits.

Fans won’t just be getting a song. A full-scale music video is rumored to drop alongside the single, likely blending Gaga’s avant-garde visual style with the series’ macabre, offbeat world. Whether Wednesday star Jenna Ortega will appear remains a mystery — but given Gaga’s flair for surprise cameos, anything’s possible.

Speaking of surprises, At Netflix’s Tudum 2025 fan event, held on May 31 at Los Angeles’s Kia Forum, Gaga closed the show with a dramatic Wednesday-inspired performance. Emerging from a coffin engraved with “Here lies the monster queen,” she performed a medley including “Zombieboy,” “Abracadabra,” and her viral hit “Bloody Mary,” accompanied by dancers styled in Addams Family cosplay. During the set, Netflix also officially confirmed her role as Rosaline Rotwood.

Let’s Bring the Mayhem

Although she hasn’t joined the press circuit for the new season, Gaga’s absence has a good reason: she’s currently in the middle of her globe-spanning Mayhem Ball tour. Still, the announcement of “Dead Dance” has sent both Little Monsters and Wednesday fans into a frenzy.

The single and video are slated for release next month to align with Gaga’s debut episode. Based on the Wednesday release schedule, we can expect Gaga’s episode to coincide with the show’s second release in September.

Season 2 will premiere in two parts:

  • August 6: Episodes 201–204
  • September 3: Episodes 205–208
