Alice Oseman Promises New Twists in the Upcoming ‘Heartstopper Forever’ Film

Alice Oseman confirmed that Heartstopper Forever, the upcoming film based on her beloved graphic novels, will diverge from the events of Heartstopper Volume Six. Speaking at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Oseman revealed that the adaptation draws from both Volume Six and the novella Nick and Charlie, but takes a “slightly different path” for the ending.

While Volume Six and the novella both explore Nick and Charlie’s relationship as they transition into adulthood and navigate Nick leaving for university, Oseman said the film needed a unique approach.

“I’ve talked a little bit about how it has been very difficult to implement the events of the novella in Volume Six. In the film, I have found a different way to approach this problem.”

They teased that fans can expect “quite a few surprises” even after reading the final book.

“There is a point in the movie where we slightly diverge from Volume Six and it takes a slightly different path to get to the ending. So even once you read Volume Six, there will still be quite a few surprises in the movie waiting for you.”

According to Netflix, the film will wrap up Nick and Charlie’s journey. After Season 3, the couple is inseparable. But, with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet.

Meanwhile, Nick and Charlie’s friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on.

Heartstopper Forever officially wrapped filming in July and is set for release in 2026.

  • Reneé Rapp and Gabby Windey Serve an Hour of Sapphic Chaos

Reneé Rapp and Gabby Windey Serve an Hour of Sapphic Chaos

If you want to feel like you’re in a full-on yapp-off with Reneé Rapp and Gabby Windey about all things gay, this is it. An hour of unhinged sapphic chaos.

In this week’s episode of Windey’s Long Winded podcast, Rapp joins to continue her iconic press tour following the release of her sophomore album, Bite Me.

“A triple threat, an actor, a singer, a doer of the splits,” Windey says to introduce Rapp.

“Believe you me. I’m splitting on that b**ch,” the singer responds. This is the energy going into this conversation.

Gay Friend Groups, Scissoring, and Strap-Ons

Windey then launches into the conversation, asking Rapp how she found her lesbian friend group, to which she answers, “I dated them.” Classic. The conversation then spirals into scissoring, how scary straight men are, being “gay enough,” and so much more. So buckle up, throw on some shades, grab your iced coffee (or refresher…) and get ready for unfiltered convos about strap-ons (with or without balls).

“We need to be sucking strap in the club more.”

    Teenage Crushes

“I always felt like I was better than everyone else,” she begins, before diving into a story from when she was 14 and starring in a community theater production of Carrie. Among the cast was a maybe 24-year-old woman who instantly caught her attention. “You don’t look like Mary-Sue who I go to school with.”

Both Rapp and Windey agreed they’ve always loved “the weird ones.” This woman had a ripped shirt, red spiky hair, and the kind of effortlessly cool vibe that burns into your teenage brain forever. Sadly, we don’t know where she is now.

The two also cover astrology, how hot Rapp and her girlfriend Towa are, and crying. It’s a nonstop party. Start your weekend here!

Gabby Windey is best known as one of the leading ladies of The Bachelorette Season 19, where she co-starred alongside Rachel Recchia. Before her reality TV fame, she was a Denver Broncos cheerleader and ICU nurse — yes, she can save lives and serve looks. Since her time handing out roses, Windey has appeared on Dancing With the Stars (finishing second), Traitors, and made headlines in 2023 when she came out as queer, introducing her girlfriend Robby Hoffman on social media (they tied the knot earlier this year).

Reneé Rapp is a rising pop powerhouse and actor with a knack for turning personal experiences into unapologetic anthems. She first broke out on Broadway as Regina George in Mean Girls: The Musical, then won over TV audiences as Leighton Murray on HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls. In 2023, she released her debut album Snow Angel, followed by her sophomore album Bite Me in 2025.

Exclusive: Kevin Aviance Drops Electrifying New Single ‘Bloodline’ Ahead of Album HIPPOPATAMUS!

Kevin Aviance is not here to blend in. The drag legend, dance chart dominator, and nightlife icon is back with “Bloodline,” a ballroom-charged celebration of family, history, and self-expression. It’s just the beginning of his bold new era.

If you’ve stepped foot on a dance floor in the past three decades, you’ve probably felt Aviance’s presence. He’s the voice behind club staples like “Din Da Da,” “Alive,” and the underground classic “Cunty.” His blend of house, electronic, and soul has kept him at the forefront of music and fashion for decades.

Then came a career-defining moment in 2022, when Beyoncé tapped him for “PureHoney” on her Grammy-winning Renaissance album. Now Aviance is stepping forward with HIPPOPATAMUS!, his first full-length project in years, dropping October 10. The lead single “Beautiful” set the tone during Pride Month, but “Bloodline,” out August 15, raises the stakes. Produced by DJ Gomi and Cherie Lily, the track pulses with runway energy and pays homage to the late Grandfather Hector Xtravaganza, one of ballroom’s most influential figures.

“‘Bloodline’ is more than a song to me,” Aviance says. “It’s a piece of my heart and history. It celebrates the chosen family and legacy that have shaped who I am. With every beat, I want people to feel connected, empowered, and free to express their true selves.”

DJ Gomi calls the process “a journey of passion and respect,” adding that they set out to create something that “moves bodies and honors the spirit of the ballroom.”

To celebrate the release, Kevin Aviance is giving Gayety readers early access to download the “Bloodline” tracks for free. Click here to claim your exclusive download and bring the ballroom straight to your playlist.

Following “Bloodline,” fans can expect the third single “Pulled” on September 9, which Aviance hints will be another high-energy club essential.

  • Troye Sivan Shares Sweet Throwback Photo With Chappell Roan From 2015

Troye Sivan Shares Sweet Throwback Photo With Chappell Roan From 2015

Nothing beats a good pop duo moment, and Troye Sivan just served one up. In his latest Instagram photo dump, the opening shot is a gem from 2015 showing a young Troye alongside Chappell Roan. Before “Rush,” “My My My!,” “Pink Pony Club,” or “The Subway.” Just two rising stars with no idea of the pop royalty status ahead of them.

What makes the interaction more iconic is the fact that Troye confessed to finding the photo by doing a “weekly google of ‘troye sivan and chappell roan.’” Imagine being able to search yourself with another celebrity name and find random pictures from your past.

“FYI I found that pic online doing my weekly google of ‘troye sivan and chappell roan’, not my crop!!!!!”

This comment came after the “Angel Baby” singer faced criticism for how the photo was cropped. But don’t worry, people online have also tracked down the full photo, which does feature Connor Franta.

    https://twitter.com/arianaunext/status/1956053732669505754

The photo also appears to be shared initially by Chappell on Twitter after a breakfast with the two YouTubers.

Fans have also dug up tweets from Troye showing his support for Chappell, then going by her name, Kaleigh Rose, since 2014. He even gave her a shoutout and dropped a link to her track “Die Young.”

If you’re gonna support these icons, you better know your gay history.

Chappell Roan is having one of those unstoppable pop star summers. Her latest single, “The Subway”, not only became her highest-charting U.S. hit, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, but also snagged the No. 1 spot in the U.K.

Starting this fall, she’s launching the Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things mini-tour, hitting three major cities in the U.S.:

    • New York – Forest Hills Stadium, Sept 20–24
    • Kansas City – Museum and Memorial Park, Oct 3–4
    • Los Angeles (Pasadena) – Brookside at the Rose Bowl, Oct 10–11

The tour also includes a wonderful initiative: she’ll donate $1 from each ticket to local transgender youth charities in each city.

Troye Sivan, meanwhile, is leaning into spontaneity. Earlier this month, he popped up unannounced during Role Model’s set at Outside Lands, sending fans into a frenzy. Before that, he was wrapping up the high-energy Sweat Tour with Charli XCX, ending with a headline set at Primavera Sound that doubled as his 30th birthday celebration. He’s also bringing his lifestyle brand, Tsu Lange Yor, into the world this month with a chic pop-up at Nordstrom’s Americana in Glendale, open through the end of August.

Both artists are thriving in totally different ways—Roan’s ruling the charts, Troye’s owning the stage—and it’s safe to say pop culture is eating it up.

  • Joe Jonas May Have Just Confirmed ‘Camp Rock 3’ — and the Internet Is Losing It

Joe Jonas May Have Just Confirmed ‘Camp Rock 3’ — and the Internet Is Losing It

Joe Jonas might have just spilled the tea (sorry, Disney) — Camp Rock 3 could actually be happening, and the girlies are in full meltdown mode.

Let’s be real: Camp Rock is top-tier Disney Channel cinema. The 2008 DCOM gave us Demi Lovato as Mitchie Torres, an aspiring musician living the ultimate summer dream at Camp Rock, and the Jonas Brothers as fictional boy band Connect 3. Shane (Joe Jonas) was sent to camp to “get grounded,” and what we got was pure teen-movie magic. The sequel? Also a bop. Argue with the wall.

Seventeen years later, the stars are still keeping the music alive. On opening night of the Jonas Brothers’ Greetings From Your Hometown Tour, Demi joined Joe on stage for “Gotta Find You” and “This Is Me.” It was their first time performing those songs in a decade — oh, and they’re exes. But now more importantly, they’re friends. Disney really is feeding us well in 2025.

Between a Camp Rock mini-reunion, Miley Cyrus teasing a Hannah Montana anniversary, and Jamie Lee Curtis reuniting with Lindsay Lohan for Freakier Friday, it feels like my childhood is staging a full-blown comeback tour.

Now, about that potential Camp Rock 3. In a new Hot Ones Versus episode, the brothers sat down to answer questions or face the dreaded death wing. When Joe was asked to read his most recent Notes app entry, he casually replied, “Read Camp Rock 3.” Nick’s face said it all — and Joe doubled down: “It’s the truth. It’s literally right there. Sorry, Disney.”

However, now there are rumors that Lovato will not be returning to the franchise. Sorry, we can’t read this. We are blind.

No official word yet, but we’re manifesting a Mitchie-and-Shane return. Will they run their own camp? Go on tour with the OG campers? Whatever the plot, we’ll be first in line with our air guitars ready.

  • Dan Levy’s Crime Comedy ‘Big Mistakes’ Starts Filming — Meet the Cast

Dan Levy’s Crime Comedy ‘Big Mistakes’ Starts Filming — Meet the Cast

Netflix has officially revealed the cast and title of Dan Levy’s new series, Big Mistakes — and judging by the lineup, the only “mistake” would be skipping it. The eight-episode family crime comedy follows two wildly incapable siblings who get blackmailed into organized crime. Expect sharp banter, messy family dynamics, and more than a few questionable life choices.

    The Dream (and Drama) Team

Levy will star, serve as showrunner, and executive produce, teaming up with co-creator Rachel Sennott (Bottoms) and executive producer Anne-Marie McGintee under Levy’s Not a Real Production Company banner. Joining him in the chaos:

    • Taylor Ortega (Welcome to Flatch)
    • Laurie Metcalf (Lady Bird, Hacks)
    • Jack Innanen (Adults) as Max
    • Boran Kuzum (Thank You, Next) as Yusuf
    • Abby Quinn (Hell of a Summer) as Natalie

Rounding out the recurring cast is: Elizabeth Perkins, Jacob Gutierrez, Joe Barbara, Josh Fadem, and Mark Ivanir.

Behind-the-scenes photos already show Levy, Ortega, Quinn, and Metcalf in action — and, yes, Levy seems just as thrilled to call Metcalf “mother” as you’d expect.

    Levy’s Next Big Chapter

Big Mistakes marks Levy’s first scripted series since Schitt’s Creek and his first under an overall deal with Netflix. It follows his 2023 feature directorial debut Good Grief, also for Netflix. In true Levy fashion, the project promises heart and hilarity wrapped in absurdly high stakes.

“I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life,” Levy said. “Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name, and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother.’”

    Release Details

Filming is underway in New Jersey, but Netflix hasn’t revealed a premiere date yet. One thing’s certain — with this cast and premise, Big Mistakes is primed to be our next queer binge obsession.

  • Is Logan Lerman the Latest Killer? ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 5 Trailer is Here

Is Logan Lerman the Latest Killer? ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 5 Trailer is Here

Grab your knitting needles and alibis — Only Murders in the Building is back, and the Arconia is still the deadliest address in New York. Hulu just dropped the trailer for the hit murder mystery comedy’s fifth season, premiering Sept. 9, and it’s giving us murder, mayhem, and a whole lot of Mabel fashion moments.

This time, Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) are investigating the suspicious death of Lester (Teddy Coluca), the beloved doorman of the Arconia. Naturally, our favorite true-crime trio refuses to believe it was an accident — and the case pulls them deep into New York’s underbelly. Think powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters, and the kind of Arconia neighbors who probably know exactly where the bodies are buried.

If the trailer’s any indication, this season is overflowing with star power and laugh-out-loud moments from Steve and Marty — what more could we want?

  • ‘Plainclothes’ Trailer Shows Tom Blyth Trapping Men in Steamy Queer Thriller

‘Plainclothes’ Trailer Shows Tom Blyth Trapping Men in Steamy Queer Thriller

Magnolia Pictures has dropped the first trailer for Plainclothes, the Sundance award-winning thriller written and directed by Carmen Emmi — and it’s already setting off sparks.

Set in 1990s Syracuse, the film follows Lucas (Tom Blyth, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), a promising undercover police officer assigned to lure and arrest gay men. But Lucas’ mission takes an unexpected turn when he meets Andrew (Russell Tovey, Looking) and finds himself falling for his target.

The trailer teases an intoxicating mix of tension, intimacy, and danger. What begins as another sting operation in a mall bathroom quickly transforms into something far more electric. Thrilling, steamy, erotic, and so much more, it hints at a love story that’s as dangerous as it is irresistible.

As Lucas navigates a growing romance under the shadow of his assignment, the pressure from his department to deliver arrests mounts — pushing him toward a reckoning that collides with his own buried past.

“You can always tell when a man is hiding something.”

The story also flashes to a tense New Year’s Eve at Lucas’ mother’s house, where a misplaced letter threatens to expose everything. Surrounded by suffocating family dynamics, Lucas is forced to confront the memories and choices he’s tried to outrun.

In addition to Blyth and Tovey, Plainclothes stars Amy Forsyth, Christian Cooke, Maria Dizzia, and Gabe Fazio.

Magnolia Pictures will release the film in theaters on Sept. 19, 2025.

  • Cardi B Drops Release Date for New Single ‘Imaginary Players’ Ahead of Long-Awaited Album

Cardi B Drops Release Date for New Single ‘Imaginary Players’ Ahead of Long-Awaited Album

Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B announced Monday (Aug. 11) that she’ll drop “Imaginary Players” this Friday (Aug. 15). “Just a lil taste of the drama. IMAGINARY PLAYERS THIS FRIDAY,” she teased on Instagram, posting a photo of herself in a matching white fur coat and Rolls Royce, rocking pastel pink hair.

The new track arrives just two months after “Outside,” her summer hit that climbed to No. 1 on both Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay and Rap Airplay charts earlier this month. “Outside” also debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July, marking Cardi’s 13th top 10 single.

Part of Am I the Drama? Era

“Imaginary Players” will join “Outside” on Cardi’s upcoming sophomore album Am I the Drama?, due Sept. 19 via Atlantic Records. The project will also feature her chart-toppers “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion and “Up” — a choice Cardi defended to fans on X.

“This will be the last and only time I’m gonna address this,” she wrote. “WAP and Up are two of my biggest songs, my fans have been asking me to put them on an album, and people search for them on IOP all the time… they deserve a home.”

    Seven Years in the Making

Am I the Drama? comes seven years after Cardi’s debut album Invasion of Privacy, which topped the Billboard 200 in 2018, won the Grammy for best rap album in 2019, and made RIAA history in 2022 when all 13 tracks were certified platinum or higher.

With “Imaginary Players” dropping this week, the countdown is officially on for Cardi’s return — and if her recent hits are any indication, she’s about to dominate the charts all over again.

  • Petition to Overturn Marriage Equality Reaches Supreme Court

Petition to Overturn Marriage Equality Reaches Supreme Court

Ten years after the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges decision made marriage equality the law of the land, the Supreme Court could soon face its first direct challenge to that ruling.

In 2015, Kim Davis was the elected county clerk in Rowan County, Kentucky, when she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples following the Obergefell decision. Citing her religious beliefs, Davis defied a court order to comply with the law and spent six days in jail.

Her defiance made her a hero to the religious right and a symbol of resistance to LGBTQ+ rights. It also sparked years of litigation, culminating in a jury awarding $100,000 in emotional damages to one couple she denied, plus $260,000 in attorneys’ fees.

Petition Aims to Erase Marriage Equality Precedent

Last month, Davis filed a petition asking the Supreme Court to overturn those damages — and Obergefell itself.

Her argument: The First Amendment’s free exercise clause should shield her from personal liability for refusing marriage licenses on religious grounds. Her filing calls the 2015 decision “egregiously wrong” and “legal fiction.”

“If there ever was a case of exceptional importance,” wrote her attorney Mathew Staver, “the first individual in the Republic’s history who was jailed for following her religious convictions regarding the historic definition of marriage, this should be it.”

This marks the first formal bid to overturn Obergefell since the 2015 ruling. It comes amid a growing conservative push to roll back marriage equality — with at least nine states in 2025 introducing bills to block new same-sex marriage licenses or passing resolutions urging the Supreme Court to reverse the decision, according to Lambda Legal.

    What Does This Mean

Still, legal experts say Davis’ challenge is unlikely to succeed.

“Not a single judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals showed any interest in Davis’s rehearing petition,” said William Powell, attorney for David Ermold and David Moore, the now-married couple at the center of the case. “We are confident the Supreme Court will likewise agree that Davis’s arguments do not merit further attention,” he told ABC News.

    What Happens Next

The Supreme Court will consider Davis’ petition in a private conference this fall. If the justices take it up, oral arguments could be scheduled for spring 2026 with a decision expected by June 2026.
