Harry Styles may arrive late to rehearsal, but at least he won’t be empty-handed.
In a new promo video shared on Saturday Night Live’s social media, the Grammy-winning artist is casually munching on a pastry when he walks in on comedian Marcello Hernández in a rather unexpected state. Hernández appears to be attempting a full Harry Styles transformation, borrowing the singer’s outfit and copying his haircut in an effort to “replace him.”
“I thought you weren’t coming so I thought I would just go on as your understudy.”
The “Aperture” singer then explains he was out getting a pain au chocolat with Kenan Thompson, a tradition they do everytime he hosts. The last time Styles took the Studio 8H stage was in 2019 after he released his second album, Fine Line.
Though Marcello Hernández has the dance moves and outfit down, he steps aside to hold Harry Styles’ pastry, letting the pop star step in and announce his SNL takeover.
Styles even made a surprise appearance on the SNL stage a week early. The singer popped up during Ryan Gosling’s monologue last week, drawing cheers from the audience as he briefly joined the moment before stepping aside. The cameo offered fans a playful preview of his upcoming takeover and proved Styles is already getting comfortable back inside Studio 8H.
Oh, it’s happening!
His episode will air on March 14 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
Harry Styles will perform songs from his new album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally., which was released on March 6. He previously dropped the single “Aperture,” along with music videos for both “Aperture” and “American Girls.” Earlier this month, Styles also performed the entire album during a One Night Only show in Manchester, which was recorded live and released on Netflix earlier this week.
