Beauty guru and social media personality Bretman Rock is officially single again—and he’s choosing peace, growth, and a little extra lip gloss in the wake of heartbreak.

The 27-year-old influencer confirmed that he and boyfriend Justice Fester have ended their relationship after one year together. The couple first went public in 2024 and had quickly become fan-favorites for their playful chemistry and quiet romance.

“We are no longer together,” Rock shared in a heartfelt statement on his Instagram Stories on Aug. 4. “It was a mutual breakup. It was amicable. There’s one thing I want to get out of the way: we are still friends. We still have love for each other.”

Though the split may come as a surprise to fans, the You’re That Btch* author made it clear that there’s no bad blood—only a desire for emotional clarity and personal space.

Rock went on to emphasize that he and Fester didn’t part ways out of anger or betrayal, but because they recognized the importance of prioritizing their mental well-being.

“Neither of us wanted to break up,” Rock admitted. “It’s just something that we need to do for our mental health. We just want to focus on ourselves.”

And for Rock, that means turning inward—and upward. “Who knows what the future will bring,” he added. “But right now, I’m locked in on myself. I would say this is my self-love era, but girl, I always have love for myself.”

The Hawaii-based beauty icon also called for compassion and discretion from fans, asking them not to blame either party or speculate about the details of the breakup.

Divine Timing, Destiny, and a Club Meet-Cute

Despite the end of their relationship, Rock expressed hope that their story may not be over for good.

“I believe in divine timing,” he said. “If we’re really meant for each other, then we will find each other again.”

It’s a full-circle sentiment for the couple, whose story began six years before they ever went on a proper date.

During a June 2024 interview with Quenlin Blackwell, Rock opened up about meeting Fester for the first time at a nightclub years prior.

“I never really hit up on anybody,” Rock said in the YouTube video. “But I could tell his friends were telling him to hit me up.”

The two ended up chatting over drinks, and a memorable kiss followed.

“I slid in there and I was like, ‘What are we drinking?’” Rock recalled. “We took a shot, and then I was putting my lip gloss on and he was like, ‘You’re making me self-conscious. I feel like my lips are dry.’ So I grabbed his face and kissed him.”

But just as quickly as things started, they paused.

According to Rock, a friend informed him that Fester was seeing someone at the time. Respecting that boundary, he cut off communication. Years went by, but fate—or the TikTok algorithm—intervened.

“In 2024, he came up on my For You Page,” Rock said. Intrigued, he decided to look him up and DM him—only to discover that Fester had already reached out six years earlier.

“There was a DM from him apologizing because he was quiet that night, and asking if he could take me out on a date,” Rock explained. “I didn’t reply.”

“So six years later, I was like, ‘Is that date still on the table?’”

That very day, the two reunited for their official first date. “It went really well,” Rock said. “I feel like we caught up from where we left off.”

A Chapter Closes, But Self-Love Continues

Though the romance may have ended—for now—Bretman Rock isn’t mourning in silence. Instead, he’s using the experience as another stepping stone in his journey toward self-empowerment.

Fans know Rock as a trailblazer not just for his viral makeup tutorials and unapologetic humor, but for being a powerful voice in LGBTQ+ representation online. Whether he’s sharing fashion tips, wellness routines, or heartfelt personal updates, he does so with authenticity—and this breakup announcement was no exception.

He’s also made it clear: while his heart is healing, it is not broken. In true Bretman fashion, he’s turning the page with grace and glitter.

“I always have love for myself,” he said. “This isn’t about starting a self-love era. I live in that era.”

While he may be single, he’s never alone—not with millions of fans, chosen family, and a firm sense of who he is.

As for what’s next, Rock is staying open. “Who knows what the future will bring,” he said. “Right now, it’s about me.”
