Coming out doesn’t look one way — it can be loud, quiet, emotional, hilarious, or something in between. And in 2025, stars across music, sports, Hollywood, and even reality TV added new layers to LGBTQ+ visibility by sharing their truth in their own words.
From mic-drop moments on live television to soft-launching their partner in a photo dump, here are celebrities who came out this year — and how they did it.

Villads Raahauge Jensen
The Danish handball player came out as gay in an Instagram post, writing, “Three words that in reality should be easy to say. I am gay.”
Andrzej Stękała
The Polish ski jumper posted a message to social media, revealing he had hidden his sexuality for years. “I don’t want to run away anymore,” he wrote. “I want you to get to know me for real.”

Draven Bennington
The musician and child of the late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington came out as transgender, sharing that she had started hormone therapy. “It has been the best decision I’ve ever made in my life,” she wrote on Instagram.
March
Yared Nuguse
The Olympic middle-distance runner introduced his boyfriend on Instagram, writing, “Can’t believe we’re already one year in.” The post marked the first time Nuguse publicly identified as gay.

Lara Raj
A member of the global pop group KATSEYE, Raj came out as queer during a fan Q&A on Weverse. She described herself as “half a fruitcake” and said she had liked “everybody” since she was young.
Tanner Adell
The rising country artist and Beyoncé collaborator came out as pansexual during the Billboard Women in Music event. “You should be able to hear that in my music,” she said.
Jenny Blake Isabella
The creator of DC’s Black Lightning confirmed in March that she had come out as a transgender woman. In her statement, she asked for privacy for herself and her family.

Bain
A member of the K-pop group JUST B, Bain came out as gay during a concert in Los Angeles. “I’m proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community — as a gay person,” he told the crowd, becoming one of the first active male K-pop idols to do so.
Teeny Chirichillo
The Survivor 47 finalist shared a personal essay in which he came out as a trans man. “I know who I am,” he wrote.

JoJo Siwa
While appearing on Celebrity Big Brother UK, Siwa said she no longer identifies as a lesbian and now calls herself queer, using all pronouns. “I feel so queer,” she told castmates. “And I think that’s really cool.”
Shobna Gulati
The British actor and writer, known for Loose Women, came out as nonbinary on the How To Be 60 podcast. “I’ve never had a word for it, but I’ve learnt from our younger generation what that might look like in terms of a word, because I know what it feels like in terms of being me.”

The performer and RuPaul’s Drag Race alum came out as bisexual in a social media post. “Welp. I guess I’m coming out,” she wrote. “I’m bisexual.”
Jade Carey
The Olympic gymnast posted a selfie with her girlfriend Aimee Sinacola on Instagram, confirming their relationship. The caption simply read, “happy.”

Anna Camp
The Pitch Perfect and True Blood actor revealed she is queer in an interview, sharing that she is currently dating a woman. “It’s great,” she said.
James Tom
The comedian and actor came out as a trans man in an interview, saying, “I like the person I’m becoming, and I think if I’d done it differently, I would be someone else.”

Alexis Floyd
The Grey’s Anatomy and Inventing Anna actor described her sexuality in a podcast interview, saying she embraces the label “queer” and has had relationships with people across the gender spectrum.
Paul Reubens
The late actor, best known for Pee-wee’s Playhouse and Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, was revealed to have identified as gay in a posthumous documentary. He had spoken about his sexuality before his death but chose to keep it private during his lifetime.
