The final volume of Heartstopper is officially on the way. Creator Alice Oseman confirmed the release date for Volume Six, the last comic in the series. Sharing the update on social media, Oseman wrote, “Heartstopper Volume 6 will be released on the 2nd July 2026. Almost time to say goodbye to Heartstopper… Still drawing it right now and having a great time!!! But I will be very sad when it’s over.”
Oseman’s Heartstopper journey began nearly a decade ago on Tumblr. What started as a small webcomic has since blossomed into a global phenomenon with six books, as well as coloring books, calendars, and a hit Netflix series. The series is also coming to an end in the form of a film, titled Heartstopper Forever. It will follow the events of Charlie and Nick in Volume 6.
“The movie will be an exploration of time, memory, love, pain, the changing of the seasons, endings and beginnings, and the core element of Heartstopper: the ordinary magic of our everyday lives,” Oseman told Tudum.
Here is what we know about the new movie
At the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Oseman revealed that Heartstopper Forever will not follow Volume 6 exactly. Instead, it will blend the events of the final graphic novel with Oseman’s novella Nick and Charlie while charting its own course.
“I’ve talked a little bit about how it has been very difficult to implement the events of the novella in Volume Six,” Oseman explained. “In the film, I have found a different way to approach this problem.”
“There is a point in the movie where we slightly diverge from Volume 6 and it takes a slightly different path to get to the ending. So even once you read Volume 6, there will still be quite a few surprises in the movie waiting for you.”
Kit Connor Teases “Steamy” Filming Days
Meanwhile, Kit Connor (Nick) has been keeping fans buzzing with behind-the-scenes hints. In a recent VMan chat with Louis Partridge, he admitted that the new season and film pushed him in more ways than one.
“Always some kind of throwing myself on the ground,” Connor joked. “We shot quite a steamy scene yesterday. So again, throwing myself on the ground in a different way.”
Connor added he had just come from rugby training before their conversation, muddy proof that Nick’s sporty side is alive and well.
Joe Locke on the Ending
Joe Locke (Charlie) has also teased what is to come, calling the movie “a really nice closing chapter of the story.” Fans can expect an emotional goodbye as Nick and Charlie face their biggest challenge yet: long-distance love.
According to Netflix, the film picks up after Season 3, with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie carving out his own independence at school. The couple must navigate the realities of separation while their friends confront the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on.
Heartstopper Forever officially wrapped filming in July and is set for release in 2026.
