Lady Gaga is closing the curtain on the MAYHEM era with a performance that sounds like a glamorous funeral procession, and I mean that in the most endearing way of course! Mother Monster knows what she’s doing.

The pop icon announced Apple Music Live: Lady Gaga MAYHEM Requiem, a filmed epic performance premiering May 14 exclusively on Apple Music. The special will also screen for one night only in AMC theaters across 15 U.S. cities, giving Little Monsters a chance to experience Gaga’s latest reinvention on the big screen.

And if the teaser is any indication, this is a complete transformation of her iconic album.

Gaga Trades The Stadium For An Intimate Moment

After spending the last year performing MAYHEM in arenas packed with towering sets and theatrical storytelling, Gaga is scaling things down for a more personal presentation. Filmed Jan. 14 at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre, MAYHEM Requiem strips the album to its emotional core with new arrangements centered around piano and synth-driven performances.

Instead of the massive opera-house aesthetic featured during The MAYHEM Ball, the new production leans into the aftermath. Crumbling pillars, scattered debris and dim lighting frame Gaga as she revisits songs like “Abracadabra” and “Disease” in a moodier setting.

Apple Music described the performance as the “final chapter” of the MAYHEM era, with Gaga appearing almost like a ghost wandering through the remains of the world she built on tour.

That dramatic? Absolutely. But subtlety has never really been Gaga’s thing.

A New Way To Experience ‘MAYHEM’

Alongside the special performance, Gaga is also releasing a companion live album in Spatial Audio exclusively through Apple Music. Fans can pre-add the project now by clicking here ahead of its May 14 release.

The immersive audio format aims to place listeners inside the theater experience itself, which feels fitting for an album cycle built on spectacle. While MAYHEM thrived in arenas and on giant stages, MAYHEM Requiem appears designed for quieter moments — or at least Gaga’s version of quiet, which still probably includes dramatic organ chords and couture gloves.

The livestream premieres free on Apple Music at 8 p.m. PT / 11 p.m. ET, even for non-subscribers. Fans can watch the livestream by clicking here. Afterward, the special and live album will remain available on-demand for Apple Music subscribers.

Shazam Is Getting In On The Fun Too

Apple is also expanding the event through Shazam integrations. Fans who identify any Lady Gaga song using the app can unlock themed wallpapers, Apple Watch faces, exclusive performance images and additional content tied to MAYHEM Requiem.

It’s another reminder that Gaga understands modern pop fandom better than almost anyone. Why simply release a special performance when you can turn it into an interactive scavenger hunt?

‘MAYHEM’ Continues Its Massive Run

The event arrives after a huge year for MAYHEM, which marked Gaga’s return to darker pop production and theatrical storytelling. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming her seventh consecutive solo album to top the chart.

The record also dominated internationally, reaching No. 1 in 26 countries and spending months near the top of Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums ranking.

Meanwhile, “Die With a Smile,” Gaga’s collaboration with Bruno Mars, became one of the biggest songs of the era. The track ruled the Billboard Global 200 for 18 weeks and topped charts across more than 30 countries.

Awards season only added to the momentum. MAYHEM won Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards, while “Abracadabra” and “Disease” also picked up major nominations.

Now, Gaga appears ready to send the era off with one final performance, not with confetti cannons or pyrotechnics, but with a piano, a ruined opera house and enough gothic drama to fuel TikTok edits for the rest of the year.
